Do You Wear A Watch ?

Given that you can tell the time from your phone, I pad, cooker, fridge and TV etc do you really need one, if so why?

Couldn't leave the house without one many years ago but since the early 2000s I stopped wearing them. My watch strap broke and I didn't bother with a new one. I use my phone but last year I got a smart watch tracker which I love.

Breitling for me (it was a gift for my 50th) - you get used to the weight of it on the wrist. For formal business meetings or 'events', I have a plain gold-rimmed, blue-sapphire cabochon on the winder, a white dial with black Roman numbers, black strap Tiffany - also a present, this for my 40th. It's more of an elegant piece....

A reputable watch says something about the wearer when you move in certain circles. Some of my clients like to associate with people of a certain standing and a watch (along with other items) gives them the reassurances they are looking for regarding reputation and standing.

Zacs, if I was judging someone's 'standing', the watch is something I wouldn't bother looking at - it tells the time, that's it, and if someone has more money than sense to pay out for an expensive one, that would be a point against.

Fortunately I have never moved in circles where such shallow pointless assumptions and judgements are made, and doubt I ever will.

I buy cheap ones from Amazon and throw them away when the battery stops.

Yes, I have a lovely watch. Gold with sparkly bits around the face. It's very pretty and I wear if for social occasions, so obviously not worn it much lately!
