I think you put your watch on the wrist you dont write with, as it makes it easier to fasten and unfasten with your writing hand. I have this theory because I'm a lefty and have always put my watch on on my right wrist.
I agree. Why worry!

iv always heard women wear their watches on their left and men on their right
Hi murphy~

Like B00, I'm left handed, but have always worn my watch on my left wrist, probably because most other peeps do - and considered this the most practical because the winder is on the right of the face and easier to turn without having to take the watch of your wrist...but at the end of the day (which it now is - lol) it is surely a matter of preference - there are no hard and fast rules...

well thanks, have posted this q on another site and all answers are similar, so cheers i win xx
I've heard something about it going back to the 17th century where some women (probably in the higher classes) were dressed by handmaids. Because more people are right handed, it was easier to fasten their own buttons the "male" way ( with buttons on the right hand side), but for females (because they had their handmaid's facing them when being dressed) it was more efficient for the buttons to be on the left hand side. So the difference is due to quite archaic tradition according to that and really has no relevance in today's Western society...unless you have the habit of being dressed by someone everyday. About the watch thing...b*****ks to tradition in that respect too- wear on whichever wrist feels more comfy to you. We don't live in the 17th century anymore (thank god!), so revel in the rebellion!!! Oh and everybody should use their knife and fork in whichever hand they feel most comfortable in too! SO THERE! ;)
I'd agree with BOO, I'm a lefty and wear my watch on my right wrist simply because it's easier to put on that way. Interestingly, I've got a (male) jacket I bought in America with the zip on the right-hand side, so I think their zips/buttons might be universal for all.
