What has struck the most with the five candidates is how uninspiring, how, bland, mechanical and boring they are. I haven't, yet, heard an interesting idea nor have I heard any sense of humour. Surely one of them must have one interesting idea, or something to make us smile.
It says a lot about the current Tory party that two of the decent candidates - Javid and Hunt - hardly hit a look in and a third Tugendhat - is barely hanging in
I wonder if many feel as I do that the PM should be chosen by ejected MPs and not by an unelected minority of the people who happen to be members of the party.
These TV debates feel mildly insulting.
All can watch but few can choose.
I dont agree.
The MPs may be fewer in number but they’re elected.
At the last election the country decided the Tories should be the ruling party with Boris Johnson as PM. BJ may be going but rightfully the Tories are still the ruling party so the people who were elected to that should chose their new boss. We don’t have a presidential system.
And this isn’t really about electing a party leader. If it was then fair enough.
The fact that they get paraded on tv just adds insult to injury. It’s prime time television for an unrepresentative and very small section of the electorate.
I disagree with all Badenoch’s politics but she performed best in the debates in my opinion… does not necessarily mean she would make a good PM though which is rather the problem with these debates :P
