To annoy the customers. Tesco used to sell one sandwich that was on white bread but they changed that to brown bread too.

I wouldn't mind as much if it was nice brown bread but it is tasteless.
I don't know where your from, but in the supermarkets I go to they have white bread aswell. But I do tend to notice, it's usually the tuna sandwiches that come with brown bread and chicken and stuffing comes with white bread.
Do they call it brown bread of wholemeal bread? I never buy sandwiches
Market forces
I often buy sandwiches from my local Sainsbury's and Asda, all on white bread !
Buyers market - don't like it, don't buy it.
I usually see a mix, not that I take much notice.
Demand
To me, sandwiches are something you make yourself - I've never bought pre-made ones. (And then I can choose the bread...wholemeal or granary for preference).
Does anybody still eat white bread? I havent since 1977!
white bread goes stale quicker, and brown bread is more moist.
I make my own sandwiches at home, with wholemeal bread which I have also made at home.
Plenty of white bread sandwiches available in supermarkets.
The key to dealing with supermarket sandwiches is to let them come up to room temperature before hoying them into the bin, especially their 'wraps'.
Make your own - cheaper and more delicious....here for lunch today, fresh white tranches of a local bakery bread, a vine tomato cut up, a little watercress, 1/3rd of a camembert sliced, a turn of black pepper and then toasted in a pan with butter and a little oil..... cost c. £2.00 for two large sarnies.
Sounds like the best thing since tranched bread right enough.
