Despite people and their devotion to various patron gods,

The great issue facing each one of us, Is it rising sea levels and freak weather caused by global warming? Is it depletion of the ozone layer, leading to dangerous exposure to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays? Is it a population explosion, which compounds other global problems, such as poverty and crime, coronavirus pandemic? Or is it the prospect of the annihilation of untold millions in a nuclear war, with any holocaust survivors eventually dying in agony from cold, starvation, or radiation?

I'm unsure why these sort of posts continue to get put up.

The God botherers always dig out their favourite sections of their fave fiction to 'prove' their point and the Atheists always say there is no proof, then the pedantic jump in with 'but you cant prove there isnt'.

Whyt dont we all agree that our personal beliefs are just that, personal and try not to force our views on others?

Mamyalynne@ In his Sermon on the Mount Jesus declared: “Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them. Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake. Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you.” (Matt. 5:10-12)
goodlife, I have a spiritual approach to life and that does not include any religion, I worship nobody or nothing.

youngmafbog what in a name if your name was being mock, how do think God feel.
//Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake//

Ahh, the Sermon on the Mount. How ironic that you should cling to that when Jesus told you his message wasn’t for you. Why don’t you believe him?

Another thought. What is righteousness? God allowing the devil to torment Job so appallingly in order to win a bet? Genocide? Jephthah sacrificing his daughter - and God allowing him to do it? None of that as far as I’m concerned is righteous…. which leads me to another thought. Wouldn’t it be ironic if those who find all of that abhorrent - and are condemned for it by people like you who think they’re very special - were actually the ‘righteous’? I’d rather be me than you, Goodlife.

What a load of nonsense, were you there, was it recorded.

Just fictitious claptrap from an old book of fairy tales.
Goodlife, //everybody worship something if only worship like naomi. //

What does that mean?

That all for to day folks :)
What !!! Your joking .. I was just getting into it and you pull the carpet !
Perhaps Goodlife, who expects to inherit the earth, has gone to contemplate further the bit of the Sermon on the Mount that says the requirement for that is meekness.
"youngmafbog what in a name if your name was being mock, how do think God feel."

What the hell does that mean? Are you speaking in tongues or something?
English isn't his first language, YMB.
Goodlife, thank you but I don't need to revisit the Sermon on the Mount - I have made my choice.
OK, thanks Naomi, my apologies goodlife.

I am still unsure as to what is meant though.
I think he means God is upset by those who mock him.
//Who Is Your God?//

I don't subscribe to any form of self-deception. Attempts to make distinctions between 'God' and 'Satan' only confirm they are both a delusion.
Goodlife. Buddhist here, so no god, but a great interest in humankind’s suffering, and a solution to its suffering.

It would pain me if only Christians were allowed into your debate.

allenlondon@ Today we live in a world where many innocent people suffer. What do you believe is needed to bring an end to pain and misery for all?
There is an ancient promise that is very comforting to me. [Read Revelation 21:4.] Of course, that time has not yet come, but when it arrives, we would like to see it, wouldn’t we.

When the disciples of Jesus asked him when the end of this system of things was coming, did Jesus say, ‘Why, how can you think such a cruel thing?’ No, he did not. Jesus proceeded to answer his disciples realistically, giving them the many facts, and signs that would mark the end of this world, God’s taking his great power to rule in the way he has made clear in his Word!—Rev. 11:17, 18.
