The French have changed their mascot to Fleur de Lose.

What's so great about England? They say arrogance is a fault of the French but the English are really trying at times.

As one thread said the British are a nation of moaners and you showed that to be true having no interest whatsoever in the Games, throughout the Live8 weekend how many of you had a good word to say about the organisers. Constant negativity except the odd one or 2. At least I prefer the way the French make stands for principles!

Actually I'm half english, half french.

Sooooooooo, my breath might smell, but at least I'm crap in bed.

Let's be honest here, call a spade une spad....most of the french are unbelievably rude and arrogant in a way that rest of the world finds unacceptable. Artful, you might be french, but you certainly don't show it by your frequent politeness and magnanimity. I think things are better further south, but the rest, parisiens in particular...I had to work with them for 5 years, many nice people but....bloudy el.

I don't think you are being fair, MargeB, really I don't. On this site alone I think there are English people who have shown themselves up appallingly. Let's face it what is polite in one culture is not necessatily seen as such in another. The French are as they are, the English are as they are. Full stop.

As you say MargeB there are nice people my side of the Channel and I think there are nice people your side but my goodness there are some real pigs both sides.

And MargeB thankyou for your compliments. I shall go to bed feeling good tonight as I really thought I was going to come home (we went out for an Italian meal!) to some right nasty posts in response to what I'd said...

<must resist urge to slap the Answerbank ned, must resist urge>
Artful, I think there'd be alot less gloating if Chirac hadn't trotted out the usual tired old insults about british cooking just prior to the result. For the record, I've been to France many times and never met anyone who wasn't polite and helpful. In fact I've had friendlier service as an english person from Parisian shopkeepers (for example) than I've ever had in London.

Did Chirac's quefuffle (sp) affect the outcome?
As i said  in reply to another question if it was Chiracs comments that swayed the decision, then that sums up the IOC and its procedures, totally and absolutely pathetic. "Lets give it to Paris,  hold on i just heard that Chirac reckons Englsh cooking is crap !, Oh that changes everything lets give it to London then, job done " PH U ***** NG Pathetic
