They know the risks setting of in those dinghies, if it capsizes and they die, its not the UK fault at all. Just stop picking them up, they will soon get the message without the RNLI taxi service.

"...out of sight is out of mind- much better than leaving them to roam around the French beaches in their camps"

Exactly nma. As I said yesterday, the only way to stop this invasion (and it is an invasion because it's being undertaken by force and threats of violence) is to physically prevent the boats from entering UK waters. Whether that's done before they are launched or afterwards is immaterial. One thing is for certain  the French are not going to put themselves out too much to prevent them being launched - especially when they face "people with flares and sticks".

All of the time wasted on the ridiculous Rwanda scheme could have been spent devising ways and means to prevent these people from landing. But it's never going to happen because there are too many people in teh UK who believe that it is perfectly OK for these people to continue landing here because they are "vulnerable." They are not. They are in France, which is a safe country, and will have passed through many other European safe havens to get there.

The function of the asylum system is to provide temporary safe haven for those in peril. It is not to enable those who do not particularly like it where they are to seek a destination of their choice to "make a new life". Unless and until this is accepted, nothing will change.

Perhaps bus the invaders to the doors of their supporters and ensure the gain entry to start their new life with friends instead of some depressing B&B.

If the French cops retreat because of threats by lawbreakers with sticks then they must be as bad as the Met who take one look at a protesting crowd and then threaten someone the crowd might turn on instead.

What a lovely lot of compassionate responses - makes me proud to be British.

It's known as tough love or being cruel to be kind. I agree with dave50, although it should be combined with more effort to stop boats setting off and crushing the gangs

bang on dave, The RNLI should stay out of it.

19:59, compassionate? They are illegal invaders from an already safe country.
