Do you think we are going to get any snow this winter? I remember my Mum always saying (in the 1970s) that if you are going to get snow, you will get it during the second week of February. That was in the SW. We did tend to get our worst blizzards at that time. We always used to say that if you had a snowy winter it would be followed by a hot summer. I suppose another crap summer in this country is on the cards then.

We've had snow over the past couple of weeks but it didn't lie for long. Snowing this morning again, but very wet and now all gone.
We are seeing snow up the Brecon Beacons quite regularly but nothing down lower.
Well, we have had two lovely hot summers here in the S E so why not go for a hat trick?
It will snow in march, my mum said I was late in march because of the snow that was back in 1965.
I think I've seen frost on my car on only three mornings so far this winter, but we're not done yet - remember that it snows much more often at Easter than it does at Christmas.
We’ve had snow on Mr Jake’s birthday in early April before.
''it snows much more often at Easter than it does at Christmas.''
brother, I wish I'd known that the year when Mr Alba and I went on a camping/fishing weekend.
Woke up to about 4" of the darned stuff everywhere.

Today we've had blue skies, followed by a bout of horizontal rain, some of those showers added either hailstones or snow.
(just outside of Glasgow)
That sounds like June weather for Glasgow, alba :)
It all seems very wet, windy and mild. I miss the winters where you could see your breath, and had to wear a pair of your dad’s socks over your wellies. (Or was that just my sister and me?)
Yep, agree with you Brainy :-) x

You can tell when it's summer in Scotland, the rain's warm.

Clover, not just you and your sister.

Ne'er cast a cloot, as my mother used to say ;)

Ah yes, try going to primary school in Glasgow in the winter of 1963 in a balaclava (remember them? Mine knitted by my Mum), but wearing shorts.
I remember when the snow was up to my knees and I couldn't get to school .. and that to was just outside Glasgow.
wearing shorts is a good idea, saves having soggy trews sticking to your legs.
I offered to knit a balaclava for my 25 yr old a few days ago, offer was politely declined.

Alva, you didn't try hard enough - that was what sledges are for lol

1963 was a good year....
My father was an engineer at Babcox.. one night shift everyone got involved and yhe next morning I had the best sledge for miles around !
lawdy, I bet !!
(Renfrew?? - am being nosey)
Dumbarton
cor, forgot they were over there.
other side of the water from me.
took the younger albas to Dumbarton Rock (well, castle) once, they scampered like goats, scared me, second visit they were a bit more reserved lol
And here was me born in Overtoun, small world : ))
