So some very kind people wished me good luck for my exams. There's a very short time between sitting the exams and getting the results, and they were released this afternoon, in partial form. Could have got pass (~30% or above), or merit (~65%+) or distinction (80%+ ish). And got ... a merit!

Well done.

How old are you?
Well done Jim. I knew you would do well. I always read your posts even though I don't always understand them. You always seem to give a reasoned reply. Are you going out to celebrate?

He's on here celebrating with us :) :)
It is personal opinion Jim very much so, you're obviously the type who enjoys thermodynamic equations as bedtime relaxation.... =0) My heartiest Congratulations to you. What do you plan to do with the qualification??
Question Author
Nah, not thermodynamic ones. But I enjoy messing around with the maths of quantum field theory. Most of the time. Occasionally. Once or twice.
LOL well done Jim and congratulations.....;-)
Now, what is your goal?
If you have achieved it fine.......if not then take a week off to plan your future.........if you don't shoot for the moon, you will never get there.
Well done mate.....
Congratulations Jim.. x
Well done! That deserves a treat....Haddock?

Seriously...you've worked hard and deserve it.....love Gx
Not an expert of QFT but I think a lot of the equations are similar to or based on Lagrangian formalisms; I hated maths, from basic algebra right up to my bfavourite the Omega equation..... deep joy!! go celebrate my friend
Onwards and upwards - watch out CERN, here comes our AB man to blow you up! (Take gness and she'll advise you to the best way).

Have a glass or three of something on us this evening!
Well done you.
above 65 is the criterion for a first - well done
St A was >75% - much more vigorous......
Well done Jim, even though I have no idea what theoretical physics is ;-)
Well done jim.
When I'm not crocheting I like to mess around with the maths of quantum field theory.....;-) x
Can't remember what our masters pass rates were I got merit so was happy with that
well done!

(Though of course undistinguished.)
