we have the same so mr mally bought some wicks and  with leftover wax made some more candles x

I don't use them but could you refill them with new candles?

Can you pour hot water in them to melt the wax, or stand them in a bowl of hot water?

Pour boiling water in it and it will melt the wax then allow to cool, once cool you can lift out the waste wax.

wash containers, put an inch or 2 of coffee beans in the container then use a vanilla tea light.

the smell off the warming coffee beans with vanilla is lovely and so cheap

Could you heat them up, maybe in a low oven, to melt the wax so it can be tipped away?  Clean the pots and use them for something else

I only use candles on the dinner table or when there's a power cut.  I absolutely hate smelly candles.  If I'm given then as a gift they go to the charity shop.

Don't throw them away. You'll need candles when the current energy strategy proves inadequate.

No, disgusting things! Sorry I'm Lygophobic.

I used to make all sorts of candles. Some for gifts not enthusiastically received. Some used in my home for the aroma, also not enthusiastically received. Due to the lack of positive response I desisted from the practice.

If any gives you a gift of a candle its normally because their not over keen on you and cant be to bothered to look around for anything else. But for many reasons have to be seen to make some effort. :0)

^there you go David.  Nicebloke thinks he knows why your efforts were wasted.

Its also a popular recycle gift, so just make sure the dust has not settled on the rapper before passing on. :0))

My daughter loves candles whereas I like them. I always give her a few at Christmas.

Nothing overly flowery or perfumed for either of us. I'll use them to cover tiny plants (still in plastic pot).

Any gifted to me go to the charity shop along with any gifts I'd smellies.

I quite like them but never burn them without ventilation.  Not sure breathing in all of those chemicals is a good idea.

My use of candles is based on my childhood in the 40s when power cuts were not uncommon. I buy them as bare candles and stick in a saucer.  Nowadays I also use a candletick holder I got as a Christmas Present several years ago.

Like Canary, I keep them handy for when there are power-cuts .... and we get plenty of those.  The scented ones tend to set-off my asthma (good idea from Red-h though) so I give them to my granddaughter, who has  just completed her first term at Warwick Uni, and loves them - says they make her feel at home!

I love candles and burn them most weekends

I second what  237SJ says about burning them without ventilation. Some years ago, I left a candle burning in the bathroom (no ventilation)

Next time I used the bathroom, the candle had burnt out, but the smoke had blackened all the tiles. What a job I had washing all the walls down.

So yes, I do burn candles, but not in the bathroom anymore.😀

As long as you don't burn them at both ends Red 😀
