Nope some maine coons really do grow that big. Cutie wootie little fluffikins. As Boo would attest they are 'difficult cats for an inexperienced owner's. She still has Indy and at times I have been asked if I want her.... Tongue in cheek I hope.

Nah, they are rubbish at hunting, too easily spotted, you want mice get common or garden moggie.

The main risk is if they lay on you in the night. You could get fluffed to death.

And yes, Maine Coons can get huge. 25lb for a male is not unusual...they are long but not fat.
My DD always thought that my Caspar was part Maine Coon.
