we would all drown

The moon exerts a tidal force on the Earth. This gradually slows down its speed of rotation and may trigger seismic activity. Without a moon this would not occur. There would however be a smaller tidal effect caused by the sun, so although oceanic tides would be reduced, they would not disappear.

The greatest effect would be biological. With smaller tides, there would be a reduced littoral ecosystem. Many (mostly marine) organisms depend upon the lunar cycle to synchronise activities such as spawning and migrations. Land animals depend less upon the moon, but some nocturnal organisms depend upon the moon.

Read this and be amazed at the Moon!! http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/moon_mechanics_0303018.html then go and hug a tree to feel better about the planet,.......if there was no moon, safe to say its doubtful we'd be here to mess up the place.
