The Club is now Open

Good evening all on another rather chilly night.

Do come in and make yourselves comfortable here in front of the fire in the Great Hall whilst we await the usual sumptuous array of drinks and nibbles.

Sadly, lordalex cannot be with us this evening as he is tied up.
I did warn him about trying macrame again, but he's a game old bird and insisted on giving it another go.
Uncle Joe is assisting with the big scissors but it looks as though they will be at it for some hours yet.

For tonight's raffle, so far I have

A small ball of macrame twine
A bag of barley sugars
A set of binoculars...one lens gone wonky.

Sheepskin what, tenrec ?
Sheepskin coat
They were very popular in the 60's
The butler and maid did a runner
No wonder M'lady looked glummer
The food was amiss
The drinks were all ****
The night as a whole - what a bummer!

And now, having found my coat (where did you get that stole?), adieu.
Question Author
I remember....

Kate...please produce whatever you can from the ingredients you've found.
Jam and cream cracker chicken soup sounds interesting...
Question Author
Don't dismiss the evening yet, BigMac....Night.

(And my stole is my own affair.)
what tena-rec, I have no idea......

as to the Butler and Mamya:

Like the touch of rain Mamya was
On Castle ABer's flesh and hair and eyes
When the joy of walking out thus
Has taken LieInKing by surprise:

With the love of the storm the Butler burns,
He purrs, he laughs, well I know how,
But forgets when he returns
As we shall not forget Mamya 'Go now'.

Those two words shut a Portcullis door
Between them and the blessed icy rain
That was never shut before
and will not open again

Not sure that this is really true as the Croc has the key tonight.
Big Mac's, a cruder synonymatic version of the Bardic words.....
Question Author
As always, brings a tear to the eye, DT. Not a dry seat in the house.
Question Author
I think you could have stopped that sentence after the fourth word, DT
Oh no I had forgotten about the crocodile ... I better have a top up of the tailcock please.
Question Author
Certainly, tenrec. When I made Absinthe Friends* I made plenty of it.
The croc is keeping warm with a stole and skin (fur) or two.....
Question Author
The croc has had a skinful ?
Who has been feeding cocktails to the croc ?
Their metabolism cannot take it, you know. They turn all soft and cuddly and stop snapping altogether.
Thank you Ladyalex. When I've finished my drink I think I will have to be heading home. I've got to polish my walking boots and make my sandwiches for tomorrow's walk. Will the croc be a problem when I go across the drawbridge? Should I take some cream crackers with me to throw to him in order to distract him?
Have not seen the firies for ages. Perhaps they have some new recruits?
Okay Kate, open the corned beef, bung it on some toast then folat it on the soup. When it is hot, crumble some crackers on the top. I'll make somebread an jam doorsteps for afters. If we keeppouring the booze down them tey'll never notice what they are eating.
Who left earlier? Absinthe and crocs do not mix, as Mr Hermes in Paris once found out.....
Question Author
Well, the croc is usually OK if the drawbridge is down......

But DT has been feeding him alcohol, so who knows....perhaps you'd prefer to go via the ballista ?
Question Author
Daisy you are a marvell. Your culinary skills are quite...extraordinary...
The ballista sounds dangerous, is it similar to a trebuchet?
