I'm cooking two different curries (with the aim of freezing the majority of it down) - a curry made from a leg of lamb which is currently cooking low and slow and my favourite curry of chicken and prawn. We have keema rice and lentil dhal as well so it will be something akin to thali on the menu tonight.

What's cooking at yours this fine Easter Saturday?

I cooked a shoulder of lamb earlier in the week - having marinaded it in pomegranate juice and seeds, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, rosemary - and then onions underneath the meat before a slow roast. Still got some left over so into a salad with baby leaves and watercress later - just made a baby potato salad with apple, more pomegranate seeds, and chives, the spuds put into balsamic, maple syrup, e-virgin oil, and then when cool, mayo and chives added. Enough for tomorrow - and I'll probably roast some beef off - with a Dijon or grain mustard covering.

Very cheffy indeed, DT.  I do like a well-made potato salad.

Tesco have their Eglise Saint-Jacques wine, a Bergerac, back on offer @£6 if you have their card. At 7.50 normally, it's a hell of a steal for a French red wine and its been referred to on the Saturday Breakfast Kitchen and in the DTel.

got a chicken in the airfryer not thought what to go with it yet x

a nice sauv blanc, mallyh, or even a Beaujolais - chill it down a bit - or even a Cotes du Rhone....

Question Author

Sounds very nice, Mally. I'd be happy with jacket potato and salad with a roast chicken.

Thanks for the wine recommendation, DT.  If I see it I'll give it a try.

nothing cookin' in my kitchen

but I do like a king prawn madras

Lunch is feta, Hoummus and crispbread. Himself is having ham sandwiches.

dinner is chicken noodles with kale, cabbage and courgettes

A Tesco dine in for two for the princely sum of £12, slipped in the oven with gentle loving care. Just CBA arthritis playing up😂😂

Nought for me. Had a mega dose of Montezumas for the last 10 days. Two immodium and a Maltese potion of Ilma Zahor 🙁

Question Author

I'll be using some nice big fleshy prawns in curry tonight, Johnny, which will be around the strength of a madras.

The noodles sound good, RH - I haven't made any in ages.

Don't blame you, Margo.  If OH wasn't here to do all the prep, i.e. chopping all the onions and blitzing the garlic, ginger, chillies and coriander, not to mention tidying up as I go along, I wouldn't be going to such effort.  I can't really mess with things like raw onion and garlic or handle raw meat or fish too much with my hand eczema, although it has improved a lot recently.

Question Author

Sorry to hear that, Retro.  OH was a bit dicey yesterday bless  him.

Retro, when I think of Montezumas...its the chocolate. Guess yours wasn't...🤣

Lunch is prosciutto, salami, sainsburys TTD Chaource cheese...seriously runny and stinky, kalamata olives. Dinner is sausages and I'm not sure what else.

Pasta - I can highly recommend Jolly Hog Porky BLack sausages with black pudding and apple - lush

Just not long finished brunch, scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, handful of chips and one slice of toast. Belly full!!!! So probably a light dinner later maybe salad or nothing.

Question Author

OH bought some funny sausages the other day - pork, beef and tomato. They were actually okay.

The lamb smells gorgeous - due to come out of the oven at 15:30.

OH managed to find a whole Gressingham duck reduced to £1.50 the other day - I have no idea how best to cook it so suggestions most welcome.

I'm the same, Sharon. I'd struggle to eat anything more than a salad after that. Luckily I've only had a hot cross bun today so I will appreciate the efforts of my labour later.

Thanks for the recommendation Margo...I love black pudding. Sainsburys used to do a black pudding sausage a few years ago, they were quite nice.

I would simply roast the duck but the do a really nice sauce with it.

roast duck is just heaven

Question Author

Covered or uncovered, and what sort of temperature?

Nowt! I had a bacon sandwich for brunch.

I've since eaten far too much from a Cadbury chocolate Easter egg my lovely niece delivered yesterday.

On my own I can't be bothered to make a fuss.

I'm eating roast leg of lamb tomorrow with family.

I'm seriously considering Oak House or Wiltshire farm foods ready meals.
