I've got my foodie hat on today. We're having roast pork belly with crispy crackling, roast potatoes, celeriac purée, green beans, broccoli, spring greens, carrots, peas and creamed spinach.

I always like to do a mound of veg so I have plenty to blitz for Jnr and sometimes I like to make it into bubble and squeak the next day.

What's licentious gastronomic jollifications are you in for today?

Don't know yet - it'll be lunch, not dinner. Trying to avoid the supermarket takeaway chicken, mash and brocolli in a plastic tub that I paid $22 for last night which was criminal. Might see if I can find a bit of stir fry and plain rice.

That sounds nice, Sharon. I think we're having that on Valentine's night.

#Iwantsomeplonktoo!

Stir fry sounds nice, 237. I added Chinese curry sauce to my last one.
Spicey wings with a blue cheese and creme fraiche dip, avocado, spring onion, tomato and olive salad.
LCG...you eat (cook) more veg in one meal than I do in a week.

I have salad every day at work too, Pasta. I do like healthy food as much as I like some of the naughtier stuff.
Tilly "My cake's done and it's actually risen and looks like a tea loaf!"

Did you buy fresh baking powder :0)
I did buy some more, Rocky, but this recipe actually used self-raising flour so I didn't need it.

Where's Carolgif? Some of us want that recipe for Whisky Cream chicken.
Pasta I love blue cheese dip when in the states but not here!
It must be the atmosphere, rr ;-)
Lol I reckon it is
I'm currently enjoying a delicious bowl of home made soup ; prepared by her indoors

Contained therein :-
Dumplings , yam , sweet potatoes , normal potatoes , noodles , mutton and carrots

Yum yum
I had gammon steak, fried eggs and salad, cooked by himself. I don't like gammon steaks :-)

That sounds hearty and wholesome, Bazile. I could compile a rather decent recipe book from the posts on today's foodie thread.

My husband would love yours, Baz.
Bazile, your soul sounds very West Indiany! West Indians are famous for their Saturday soup. This came about as they would use up the weeks leftovers, with food from the land and any meat leftover.
Went to the butchers today and handed over my pension. Had a mixed grill tonight with superb ribeye steak. Tomorrow it is the Hairy Bikers Brisket recipe. Have had to recalculate the cooking time to allow for the much larger joint - the dogs will be delighted :)

Bless your dogs, Choux. There's definitely a place in heaven for you ❤
They managed the bits we couldn't find room for tonight - best pork chipolatas, quite a bit of ribeye, some lambs kidney ...

Welcome to my version of the Dogs Trust ;)

Q - will I still have to poop-scoop in heaven?

Chicken in whiskey cream was in Weekend Magazine last week to promote James Martin’s new series. He used a jointed chicken but I used 9 seasoned thighs. Browned them skin side down with 1oz butter in a buffet dish, set aside, soften 2 chopped shallots and garlic clove, put thighs back in with skin side up. Pour over 2oz of single malt (I had some, but am going to try it with blended next time) let it bubble. Add tbspn of Dijon mustard and tbspn whole grain mustard, then add 750ml chicken stock, plus some mushrooms and 2-4 quartered tomatoes. Cover and put in oven at 150 degrees fan(He cooked his on the top, but I find thighs can be tough if you do), for about half an hour. Put on low heat on top plate. Pour in some double cream and mix, thicken a little if too runny. James puts wild garlic leaves to wilt at this stage and decorates with the flowers if in season, but I didn’t as they weren’t. Scatter with flat leaf parsley. He also added small new potatoes cut in half, but I had no room, so served separately on the side with the sauce poured over them.

Hope that’s OK! I didn’t put measurements as people can make it for 4, 6 or 8 people and use accordingly. I used the recipe for four people.
We had an Indian takeaway.
I had king prawn jalfrezi. Lovely!
