Yes I can see that sp, but as being gay is as natural as being white, and as gay people are proud of being gay, I don't understand why somebody cannot be proud of being white (or black, or yellow, or brown).

It is not a choice being gay, it is not a choice being white.

If one can be proud of being gay, one can be proud of being white.

Yes?
flip_flop

Saying, "I'm proud to be gay" is a political statement which translates into "I will not hide the fact that I am gay...I am happy for the whole world to know, and I am not a closet case".

There's no way to hide the fact that you're white. There's no reason why as a white man you should feel the need to declare yourself unashamed.

I think the world 'proud' in these circumstances should mean 'not self-loathing'.

Wow! 120 posts, Some on here will now have to find a jolly good reason before they play the racist card.

For achieving 125 post, I award derekpara a White Trophy : - )
Michael Jackson was black when he was in the Jackson 5 and "Thriller".
Mute point but he was born black and irrespective of the colour his skin make look hes still a black man.
Just the same when you come back from a months holiday in turkey and look darker skinned than an asian man .
Youre still white

Its all about the man not the colour.
When people realise that then maybe we will then fight about eye colour.

Such is the human race that any difference is exploited and used to attack or insult people.

They say that humans are more intelligent than animals ?
Thye may be wrong ?
Do you not mean mean MOOT point?
If you're proud to be English and white, wouldn't that imply that you wouldn't be proud to be any other race or colour and thus mean you are a racist?
Mute wouldbe better .
Slip of the tongue.
Seems its more important than racism tho.

Ab never fails to amaze .

Enjoy the moment.

i33rd response coming up. Thanks AOG and Steve 5 for your accolades !

After all that I am still proud to be white and English/British.

From my username you can see what one of my past occupations was, and to achieve that I had to be one of the
15 % who pass each course. I am proud of that, too.

And I am extremely proud of the fact that my simple (?) question stimulated such interesting answers.

Look, forget colour, religion, class, creed let's just be 'content' and live in peace and harmony together.

Thank you all.
Derek
Derekpara - I salute your last post. I have many White straight mates and if ANY of them said that they were ashamed of themselves, I would feel as bad for them if they were black, or Asian and ashamed. No-one has the right to put anyone down for who they are because most people are entirely average.

Apart from Stephen Fry, whose the cleverest man in Eirope.

Thanks, SP

Yours is a fitting conclusion to this thread. I only wish there were more of us out there !

Oh, I absolutely agree about Stephen Fry. Long overdue for a Knighthood ? If he wants one , of course.
