Lee Anderson. Elected as a Tory but jumped ship when they suspended him because he wouldn't apologise for comments he made about Sadiq Khan:

In the UK people who disagree with their leader join a different party; in Russia they fall out  of windows.

Or die from drinking tea in Siberia.

on the basis the Ashfield constituency has only returned a "blue" mp twice since 1955 (at a 1977 by-election, and as part of the Red Wall in 2019), I think we can confidently predict Reform won't have any MPs at the next election.

A Reckless decision 😄

interesting indeed that such a high-ranking member of the tories should slip into them so easily

tories believe in nothing... they are organised nihilists

High ranking Tories are famed for slipping in easily.

Not really high ranking in fairness. Just high profile because of his views

Good luck to him. At least his constituency will know he tells the truth and isn't scared to do it.

//tories believe in nothing... they are organised nihilists//

What a stupid thing to say.

Reform's gain - in more ways than one.

anderson was deputy chairman... that's pretty high ranking

No it isn't ; there are several deputy chairmen. Even the chair isn't.

Hes never been a minister. Interestingly he has now presumably completed his odyssey from Labour via the Tories. Probably a shot to nothing for him as he would probably have lost his seat as a Tory anyway. It'll be interesting to see how he fares

Could you name the current Tory party chairman without looking it up? I certainly couldn't

In January, he said Reform was not the answer.

Untitled 11.24 "Tories believe in nothing" .....Oh yes they do...        They believe  in looking after themselves first ,Party second and Joe Bloggs last, whilst trousering as much of Joe Bloggs tax payers money as they can.

Anderson said his "conscience is clear" when asked whether his defection to Reform UK would help Labour at the general election. He said: "Somebody has to make a stand I have to live with my conscience."

Tice added: "Vote Tory get Starmer, vote Reform get Reform."

and I'll be doing (as I've been saying for months) exactly that.

Since his constituency coted for him as a Conservative candidate, is he allowed to switch to another party without consulting them first?

Clearly he is, but I wonder how they feel about it.

^^ Delighted !!

That only works on the assumption that every Conservative who voted for him would have voted for Reform, if a candidate had been available.

That's a tall assumption, and it will be ratified, or not, when the election comes.

i would say deputy chairman is high ranking!

in all seriousness we all know that the tories are very unlikely to be in power in a few months so they are all looking to the election after that. anderson wants to push the party to the right and once there's a place for him he'll be back in

it is perhaps understandable. there's no place for a creature like anderson outside of politics
