Many MEPs admire Britain it appears, so would possibly be more amenable to Reform. There would have been no harm in trying.

Yes, I know we've been trying to reform the EU for years, but Thatcher's been the only one to really work on it. Subsequent PMs have lacked the cojones.

But the way that the referendum's ripples spread to other member states' populations at the time showed that Brits aren't the only ones with misgivings about the way the EU's been heading (misgivings incidentally shared by many Remainers like me).

Too late now of course - thank you Cameron and May.

Yes and even TGL was unsuccessful. The EU doesn't do "reform". It has a Federalist agenda which it will pursue ruthlessly regardless of the cost to the citizens of its member countries. It makes bad decisions, implements them regardless of the unpleasant consequences that are adequately pointed out and finally fails to remedy their follies when those consequences inevitably occur.

There is no point trying to reform an organisation that believes its strategies and tactics are right. The only way to deal with it is to remove yourself as far as possible from its lunacy.
