TBF though the 70s were a decade of discontent. Easy win in 1979, bodies going un buried and Leicester Sq turned into a tip. Then the piece de resistance, the best GE slogan in history, three words of genius, "Labour isn't working"! magnificent! Go Maggie!
I just want to thank gulliver for posting this, It's brought back so many good memories.
I remember a lecturer at Uni talking about "The Sleeping Giant" back in the day. This was a politics class and The Sleeping Giant was the pensioners who made up the majority of those eligible to vote. He didn't think that pensioners realised the power they had if they chose to organise themselves.

Most PMs are there to lead their Mps through difficult times and troubled waters
But Boris is there to lead his MPs throught the swamps and sewers.
I would have thought swamps and sewers are troubled waters.
@gromit, thanks

The Cons might get fed up of Bozo next year but does anyone seriously think Keir Smarmy and his divided party will get anywhere near a majority, particularly without all those Scottish votes - one seat at the last election. Twenty years ago it was 56.
Stop feeding the troll

Its disgusting to find that Owen Paterson used his privileged position to line his own pockets ... or is it the norm amongst the Cons ?, do they think it one of the perks that comes with the job? .
I bet it’s not like that where you live Gully :0))
Sick to death of gully and the garbage he posts.
AOG would have eaten Gully for Breakfast Sparkly haha
'Claudia Webbe has been sentenced to ten weeks in custody, which will be suspended for two years. She has also been handed 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay £1000 in compensation, plus £120 in court costs. Webbe was found guilty of harassment last month, after threatening to throw acid over a friend of her partner.

Reacting to the news, a senior Tory source says:

“Webbe is the seventh Labour MP to be handed a jail sentence, suspended or otherwise, in the past 10 years. We had Illsley, Chaytor, Devine, McShane and Morley thieving; Onasanya perverting the course of justice and now Webbe harassing members of the public. Everything from fingers in the till to acid in the face. It’s hardly surprising that they’re so strongly against the police and sentencing bill. Thankfully we are building thousands of new prison places.”'
Sparkly, then take some advice my dear departed father gave me. "Never argue with a fool" in this case dont post on his threads which always degenerate quickly.
I've seen gully take some beatings on here but this is by far the best.

Give it a rest with the halfarsed opinions.
