Can't wait for Dominic Cummings to run out of hush money.
And i can't wait for the day when Gully and his Boris obsession are not on the News topic which usedto be the best section on AB.
I did suggest another section above pat but that was removed.

Boris and his Damn Savages should not be allowed to run the Country, End of.
Are you talking about a GE where you live gulliver or in UK?

gulliver1, labour have no chance of winning, even if there was a general election right now, to many radicals in the party, to woke, to pro eu...
OK, so we just have a coup because Gulliver says so!
Is now the time to change the rules and be able to 'block' certain posters on here like you can on facebook. Sick of seeing the same old same old rolled out by certain ABers - you don't need to see who they are you can tell by their posts.
You could just ignore his posts.
personally i would love it if suspended/banned users didnt know they were banned and while no-one else could see their posts, they still could and wonder why suddenly no-one was responding to them
The timing of elections is a difficult conundrum.

Labour could have called an election in Autumn 1978 but didn’t. Then we had the winter of discontent and when Callaghan did go to the polls in May 1979, the conservatives won by a landslide.

In 2017, Theresa May sitting on a small majority, called a snap election hoping for a landslide, and lost seats, ending up worse than before.

2019 Boris timed it perfectly. They needed the Labour Party to agree, and foolishly they did, resulting in a landslide Tory win.

Boris doesn’t need to call an election, and knows the timing is very wrong.

No need for any site changes if users just acted like adults. No one makes you read Gully’s or TTT’s posts, and you do not have to participate in the threads.
If you don’t like them, answer something else.
well said Gromit.
Interesting how the OP seems completely unaware of how General Elections come about in UK. I can only assume he/she is resident abroad.
" May 1979, the conservatives won by a landslide. "

Mr Picky here but 1979 was no landslide, it just felt like it.
83 and 87 were the landslides
not a landslide ich, majority 40ish? But a good solid win, I'll take that to get rid of the communists.
1979 the Conservatives were up by 62 seats and got a very healthy majority of 43. It was a crushing defeat for Labour. Probably wouldn’t have been as bad if Labour had gone to the polls BEFORE the winter of discontent.
No it wasn’t a landslide in terms of seats.
You could argue that 43 seats is a landslide if it overturns a big government majority but as we know it was a minority government at the time
