Kinda like a dead pool?
E-veal these people, Doe know what's up with them. :0)
displaying dead animal parts, always found it a bit odd.. success of the hunt eh, hunter has high powered rifle with telescopic site, bow and arrow would be more of a hunt, if thats your thing, specially against something that will fight back.

//As this was an old stag I doubt it was for eating./

I have read the article twice. I have read the animal being described as (9a) a Deer and (b) a buck. The picture is a library picture and the age of the buck is not determined.
Like it or not stalking deer and shooting them is a pastime in Scotland. I didn't read this victim was a trophy hunter either.
As the horns are inedible they are hung on the wall. The venison goes in the freezer. Just saying
* deer stalking and shooting them in Scotland is a pastime* ..... NO it isn’t.
"As the horns are inedible they are hung on the wall." Why, retro? If you are hunting animals for their meat, why not just discard the horns?
Yes, it is, anne. During open season deer are shot in Scotland and people can pay to shoot them. It usually costs around £200 per day for stag shooting + £150 per stag shot. Anyone can pay to do it.
I am not a hunter.I suppose it is customary for hunters of old to display their prowess. I suppose they have to hang something on the walls of their shooting lodges. Providing the meat goes on the table I don't think it matters where the horns go.
I am a great believer in one shot.one kill. I do not possess the confidence to shoot a animal that I am not sure I will kill first shot.( to provide food) Therefore I shoot long range targets made of paper. My wife would create merry hell if I tried to hang them in the dining room wall. They are the size of a garage door.
// NO it isn’t.//

Deny it all you like. I can assure you it is a sport/hobby/pastime in Scotland.
It's certainly legal in the US where people have been hunting for food for years.
You've spun this 'Trophy Hunting' garbage out of thin air so you can virtue signal and mock the death of an elderly man.
Hc, I can assure you it is not a pastime, it’s an industry used by English and Americans mostly in certain parts of Scotland, highly popular with our royalty. A pastime is something many people will partake in.
Here's a more local report...

It was probably hunting season in that area. I gather Arkansas has programs for the management of deer populations. I hope this deer was intended to be used for food...not uncommon in that part of the world. If that's the case, I'm not sure I can gloat over his death. Trophy hunting is a different kettle of fish.

It's probably not too widespread in the Gorbals :-)
The gun he was using was only licensed to shoot between specific dates, Oct. 19-27. This would possibly suggest sport rather than food hunting, to me.
No, NJ, that more likely to be beer stalking.
I wouldn’t know that new judge, bit of a sarky comment though .

Licensed for just 8 days? How odd.
