So sad that because we live on a tiny Island peoples mind's match it. Already some are pondering the size of their Christmas Turkey in case Auntie Lella visits. We have threads every week end about the beef/lamb pork and all the trimmings that are consumed around our dinner tables. Our little Islanders can't imagine wide expanses thousands of miles in area where wild animals roam to be eaten.
In North America if you want venison on your table for Sunday you shoot it yourself providing it's in the hunting season. They fish the lakes and Ice fish to stock their freezers. The North Americans don't need Walmarts or Macey's out in the boonies. They are quite capable of catching, gutting and skinning their prey for themselves and they cut out the middleman.
I bet if some ABers watched a documentary about Kenya and watched young Masai boys being taught how to spear a gazelle, by their elders, to eat know one would turn a hair on this site.
If this person was a trophy hunter, I have nil sympathy for him and I am worried about the poor animal wandering around wounded and probably in pain. Not proud of being a human at times.
I'm just looking at my cat at the moment. :0)
retro, you should not kill an animal unless you intend to eat it, if that is the case fine. This case is about trophy hunting.
Oh deer.
TTT
I stand corrected. I have read no evidence of trophy hunting in the various links I have seen.
The only Trophies I strive for are cups, shields and medals when I represent my shooting club.
I was erroneously under the impression this man was a hunter and shooting meat for the pot.
I'm not in favour of trophy hunting, but deer do need to be culled and stalking is big business. Best venison I ever ate was at the annual Chasse dinner in Chaunay! Regarding antlers: Eldest Sprog redecorated her living room a couple of years ago, very country, tartan rugs, cushions with hares, foxes, stags on etc., etc.. I bought her a pair of mounted antlers for Christmas - which look just right (although her townie friends freaked out a bit at first). Point is that bucks shed their antlers naturally, every year and regrow them the next Spring - so why does anyone object to shed, waste objects being used in any way whatsoever?

No, it isn't. Don't encourage people with an agenda to bring their botox onto the News Section.
