I would think that Meghan is already irritated with the, 'This is what you do, This is where you go, This is what you wear, This is what you say regime. It must be awful!

After living her own life and working for a living, I imagine that what she is experiencing now must be extremely tedious.
Two likeable rebels!
We live in a 'celebrity' culture where legions of people are 'famous' for doing absolutely nothing.

So give the mags and media a hit at someone who a) has actually done something, and b) is marrying into the Royal Family, and the interest in her becomes off-the-scale in terms of volume, and the attendant minutia of information needed to feed the voracious celebrity press.

If you take that volume of attention, the inevitably, not all of it is going to be positive.

That applies to every single 'celebrity' on the planet - there is mileage in being nasty, digging dirt, mean speculation, and if it's a slow da

If you have no interest in celebrities - how could you possibly dislike MM?

Surely at most, you would feel disinterested?
... day, then good old character assassination is always worth flinging about, it will sell mags and papers.

I have liked Ms Markle for years because I have watched Suits since Day One, but have no real interest in her as a 'celebrity' - but that, in a nutshell is why she gets, and will always get, loved and hated by our wonderful media.
It's just a human trait, some love to knock, moan and whinge.
There was a time, and within living memory, that a divorce
Sorry about that. Will try again.

There was a time, and within living memory, that a divorcé(e) would not even be received at court, let alone permitted to marry into the royal family.
lordy, Jack, don't do that to me !!
Re. your post above the uber long one which trailed off !!
You scared me x

We could have had a Queen Wallis (shudder)
However both Charles and Camilla are each divorced and Charles is still heir to the throne.
As Prince Henry is further down the line, I don't think the marital status of his bride is of any significance.

Yep...I would find it difficult to believe that Meghan’s marital status is such a big deal, because a) 50% Of British marriages end in divorce and b) she’s marrying into a family of divorcees (Andrew, Charles, Anne...)
Divorce used to be a stigma. I can remember when divorced people were not allowed to remarry in church or receive Holy Communion.
Regarding the OP, do you mean the comments below the articles? People tend not to say nice things on those forums, particularly Mail and Express readers. I don't think Meghan is particularly unpopular. There are always newspaper articles about her clothes, background, love of yoga etc. She attracts huge crowds when she's out with Harry.
She's not unpopular amongst people I know but nor are we madly interested in the Royal wedding either. I think traditionalists dislike her and modernisers generally like her but that says more about the people concerned than it does her. Her trailer trash family are good value for money though, crikey I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.
...not to mention the late Princess Margaret and Princess Michael of Kent.
I think she is rather nice
they are both nice and I wish them well

and she doesnt have a Breextarn street accent which is a deffo plus
I wonder if The Windsors will actually turn out to be a documentary.
'Cos she's of mixed race. That's what you want to hear isn't it SP?

I've not even bothered to click on those links. Only the sad are interested in spiteful rubbish. Twice her name has been mentioned among my friends. Once at a dinner party when a guest said he really fancies her - and when another friend told me she'd rearranged her holiday so that she could be in this country for the wedding - not that she has an invitation. Clearly a fan.
I really couldn't care less about the marriage etc of people I don't know nor will ever know but anything the Daily Mail comes out with I ignore on the grounds that it spouts huge amounts of nonsense....!
is she unpopular or some would like to think so, she seems perfectly happy with Harry and is i think at the moment a little overwhelmed by it all, but she will learn
