How utterly tasteless and insensitive. The mind boggles.
Wonder if there's a recording of the idea being floated.
It's gone now and that was inevitable too.
The sign might make someone snigger but it is badly timed. People have died and families are suffering.

People always have, and always will, find humour in tragedy.

But showing your 'humour' to the wider world is rarely a good idea.

For every one person who shares your black humour, there are a thousand who think you are a soulless moron.
Gallows humour is all about timing, and this was far too soon.

It took nearly 60 years before Punch published a cartoon about the Titanic disaster...
Yes, I like a good joke, but if anyone is going to joke about that it's best done if at all between friends.
That's pretty poor.
A friend of mine I have to say had a speciality in tasteless topical names for our quiz team: one was "King Hussein Unplugged" another "Princess Margaret to Start Smoking Again"
too soon rather than too distasteful. When the Titanic restaurant opened in London, one of the founders was reported as saying "It's because our food goes down well." (Actually it was because it was on the Atlantic - a bar downstairs.) It was thought to be a fairly naff joke, but nobody was outraged: too long ago.
was that the Bill Tidy one, JimF?
Diners voted it a wash-out
brilliant cartoonist, Bill Tidy. Died not long ago, I think?
I think is the Subway sign is pure brilliance!
hard to say that it boosted sales, though, which I suppose is the point of these signs.
It’s not even funny.
I don't know that it's supposed to be humorous exactly, probably just attention-grabbing. Which obviously it has been, though not necessarily in a way that attracts custom.
It's not 'pure brilliance', it's just lazy.

It made me laugh out loud, anyway!
Not overly funny, but on a single branch, likely nowhere near folk related to those in the tragedy; got more publicity & outrage than it should: but yeah, unsurprised folk moaned at the timing, could've put money on it.
