Many are calling this Martin Freeman's best performance and i have to agree. 'Chris Carson' is as far removed from John Watson as is possible and it was fascinating watching a guy obviously suffering a mental breakdown trying to hold it together.
Freeman was undoubtedly the star but 2 other performances stood out for me; Josh Finan (who played Marco) and Emily Fairn (Casey). This is the first time i've seen either actor and they certainly deserved their roles in this series.

Lottie, ///As for Twit /// It wasn't twit that was used.
It was a word that I would associate with a woman's private parts and so to call someone that, to me, is offensive and vulgar.
Like the 'c' word, I don't like that either.
I was going to give it another go because it sounds like it got good reviews.
An award winning series? I think so. It's so thought provoking. Martin is excellent.
Barsel, she didn't say Twit she said the other word by mistake and she wouldn't even have known what that meant!! That's why some of the kids sniggered and laughed.
//It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a series which doesn't involve a Lesbian, gay or devoid of the "F" word.//

Did you ever "do" obs ( midder to you probably) - and wonder where the babies you delivered, came from?

and when matron in charge - made goo-goo eyes at you.....
Just thinking. Why are words used to describe mens private parts not considered bad swear words?
Question Author
Oh sorry Lottie, I mustn't have read your post properly.
That's quite funny actually but I bet you were a bit shocked at the time.:-)
binge watched all episodes ,i thought it was really good and didn't want it to end .
Barsel. I knew back then it was a swear word, but I didn't know what it meant!! Yes in found it funny!!
Question Author
Lottie, well you wouldn't call the vicar a Richard head would you?
Particularly funny because the head was extremely religious and a very modest middle aged lady on the church council. It was a church primary school.
Ha ha Barsel - I wouldn't have the balls to do that!!
Question Author
LOL. I'm going to have a think about why I find some swearing offensive on the TV as I do swear myself occasionally usually at other motorist or even at myself sometimes.
I think most of us do Barsel. It's unnecessary swearing that gets me down. We all need an outburst sometimes. But some are brought up in families or communities where swearing is all they know. And drama has to portray this. Just let the bad words go over your head. You begin then not to notice it. But as I said on the After Life thread, I loved the series but the swearing was over the top in places.
Question Author
Haven't watched After Life, but I did watch Trigger Point, and I didn't notice a lot of swearing in that even though apparently there was.
I will give The Responder another go because it is the type of programme I usually like.
Thanks to all for your 'Responses!'
Thought the black girl's character was ridiculous. Could she be that naive, that disrespectful to a senior officer two week's into the job?
Which senior officer was she disrespectful to?
12:04 totally agree Ken.
I was thinking that too?
Chris Carson was a DI before he was demoted to PC, maybe Paigntonian thought he was still a DI ?
