We've been approved for the adoption of a 4-legged little girl in a public shelter in Romania.

I could honestly do cartwheels round the kitchen.

We should have her within about 3 weeks or so. We've chosen the name Phoebe.

:-) I could cry with joy.

Don't cry! Get the basket ready.

Lovely, NoM!
Someone's spirit is lifted! Happy for you.x
Congratulations.

Do you know what breeds she is? Her age?

The hard bit will be waiting for her to arrive.

Thanks guys. They've estimated she's between 2 and 4 years old. She's a beautiful thing. A mixed breed by the look of it xx
Oooo....Happy dance time! That's wonderful news.
Any idea her eventual size?
Question Author
She's been described as a "medium-sized" dog. I get the impression she's smaller than Alf was.
What a lovely thing to do. Good news for you and great news for the wee dog. Wishing you lots of happiness with Phoebe.
Lovely to hear good news, well done ♥
So pleased for you NoM....looking forward to the pictures xxx
Good to hear. Now, you start with flea shampoo and, having adopted a French 'lost dog' you proceed with very clear instructions in English.

Seriously, the language thing has to be learned by the dog. Begin as with a puppy. Ours is now bi-lingual and responds to both languages.

My granddaughter is called Phoebe, it's a good name. :)
Well done, lucky Phoebe to have a good new home.
What about dogs in this country? Iam not being callous but there dogs here who need a home! I hope you enjoy your new pet
Fraser - the dogs in Romania are treated appallingly compared to the dogs here.

Good luck NoM. Will you have to take time off work to settle her in?
If you name her "woof" the language barrier won't be a problem ;-)

Happy days for you both.
Good news for you, NoM ....looking forward to piccies :))

Been there before, Jourdain. My last dog was from Spain.
Fantastic news, NoM!
My sister adopted a stray from Cuba. She picked it up off the streets when she lived there, back in the 90's.
She thought nothing of the dogs 'accent' till one day she was watching a programme about Cuba. A dog started shouting on the programme and her dog went up to the television to listen, shouting back, no doubt in Cuban Spanish!
The only problem was that her adoptee had to stay in quarantine for 6 months. A long time in doggy years. Puzzling too, since there's no rabies or other such diseases in Cuba!
Can't wait to see the pictures...lucky you!
