We've been approved for the adoption of a 4-legged little girl in a public shelter in Romania.
I could honestly do cartwheels round the kitchen.
We should have her within about 3 weeks or so. We've chosen the name Phoebe.
:-) I could cry with joy.

Seriously, the language thing has to be learned by the dog. Begin as with a puppy. Ours is now bi-lingual and responds to both languages.
My granddaughter is called Phoebe, it's a good name. :)

Fantastic news, NoM!
My sister adopted a stray from Cuba. She picked it up off the streets when she lived there, back in the 90's.
She thought nothing of the dogs 'accent' till one day she was watching a programme about Cuba. A dog started shouting on the programme and her dog went up to the television to listen, shouting back, no doubt in Cuban Spanish!
The only problem was that her adoptee had to stay in quarantine for 6 months. A long time in doggy years. Puzzling too, since there's no rabies or other such diseases in Cuba!
Can't wait to see the pictures...lucky you!
