Pizzorno Merlot/Tannat 2010 (Uruguay)

The mighty, ripe Merlot has been carefully blended with the spicy Tannat - Uruguay's signature grape - to produce this big, bold luscious red, with noodles of depth, intense aromas of raspberry and elderflower, and favours of plum, chocolate and wild herbs on the palate. A refreshing acidity gives it a good lingering finish.

Available in Waitrose for around £8.

Anyone ever heard of a French Red called Pecharmant on sale in England. We had some years ago on holiday in France. It was awesome. So awesome, apparently, that the blighters keep it all to themselves. If any knows of anywhere I would really appreciate it. Thanks all

That sounds lovely, Angel.

Oftentimes a nation's best produce is hoarded.

I'm just making a Goan curry for my in laws and I am serving Coop's The Boulders Californian Viognier with that. Viognier's perfumed style is perfect for aromatic and spicy Asian fayre.
A Matariki Syrah 2004 from NZ here - to go with chicken
Are you a member of the Wine Soc, NoM - I was given a share for my 21st.....decads ago now!
Question Author
Not yet, DT, but seriously considering it.

Well done for finding Angel's wine btw.
thought that the Wine Soc may have it, but it didnt....so that got me on the hunt.. Christ I am getting hungry and thirsty now.....a glass beckons.
Thanks for the tip about Taittinger at Tesco. I need to get a couple of bottles for christmas/new year. I presume it`s Taittinger Brut Reserve NV. We have this at work at the mo. It`s not 100% Chardonnay though. That would make it a Blanc de Blancs. The cuvee in the Taittinger is 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot (Noir and Meunier). Most equivalent champagnes are 50/50% which is why Taittinger is so good. I`ll be hacked off if I get to Tesco and it`s sold out :-(
Sorry, I`m talking rubbish. Many cuvees are 20% chardonnay/80% pinot
Question Author
Yes it is the Brut Reserve and it is 40% Chardonnay. I got mine mixed up with the one my MIL has in her cupboard which is definitely 100% Chardonnay.

I would really like a bottle of Perrier Jouet for Christmas day but I can't find any anywhere.
Le Petiole Costière de Nîmes Rouge is currently selling at £4.99 instead of £9.99 in Morrisons - very drinkable!
Question Author
Thanks for the tip, Euphemia. I am sure I have seen that wine around. What's the ABV??
13.
Question Author
Wow, packs a punch then.

If I see it, I will give it a try. X x
Santé!
NoM - I googled Perrier Jouet. There is a website called www.thechampagnecompany that does it. You`ll probably have to pay a delivery charge but if you really want that champagne for christmas that might be your only chance. I`ve seen Perrier Jouet somewhere (the one with the flowers on the bottle)? but I can`t remember where. Probably duty free. I don`t think the UK mainstream supermarkets do it but if I see it I will let you know.
Question Author
Thanks, 237. It's my favourite champagne. It's very white and has a beautiful, persistent mousse. I think I may buy a case of mixed wine for Christmas.
Question Author
Well I've found my Christmas pressie...

Mine will include a bottle of the Woodhouse Late Vintage port - as good as many vintages - deep and rich and a steal at £16-50.
