and normality has returned, do you intend keeping a larger stock of essentials, stockpiling against future episodes?

First house we owned was in Wells and we used to expect floods, power cuts and/or snow blocked roads every winter. Once I had the habit there was no reason the break it. I don't keep a garage full or anything but I certainly don't let stocks run down. My only problem is currently food for my tortoises but once the garden is growing properly then I can feed them from that and once its warm enough for them to be outside, they will mostly forage for themselves.
I really don't know what I'd do if I lived in the UK. It seems odd to have to be thinking of keeping large stocks of essentials just in case but having read on here what some of you are going through to get stuff I do feel for you all.
We have been lucky so far in the wild west of Ireland. Well stocked stores with good safety precautions in place early. No queues and no panic buying. May be different in the big cities.
In a fairly tight lockdown now. We can walk to the sea from home but the beautiful empty beaches are beyond the distance allowed.

As we’re regular Costco customers we always have a fair amount of essentials anyway. As it happened we did a pretty substantial Costco shop just before all this seriously kicked off, just because we were due one, so are in a pretty good position compared to many.
When things return to ‘normal’, whatever sort of normal that may be, then we’ll continue as before.

Most of my married life has been lived on isolated properties so its the norm for me to have half a dozen of most canned things, a chest freezer in the barn, dried goods in the pantry etc. The only thing I'll probably do is start buying toilet rolls by the dozen in future and have a few more bottles of cleaning products under the sink.
The only item am running low on is Sparkling water. We have three medium size freezers all well stocked and a a good stock of tinned goods.. Plenty of Propane Gas and a generator.I hasten to add we had all this long before corvid raised it's ugly head.Always ready to provide a feast as and when. :-)
No - not based on experience this time round.
yesterday I went out with a list of a dozen things we needed.
I headed to our local Sainsburys, that there was a queue of over fifty people stretching around the car park and into the road.
On the way home I stopped at a petrol station and a local shop and got everything on my list - including paper towels and milk.
