For me...and a rescue hound.
I'll be meeting my next new hound on Saturday. I just couldn't wait, but I thought it would take a few months to find a match.
He's a five year old, ex racer who broke his leg. I'm hoping my home will be his forever home.

Aww, how nice pasta. Good luck.
That's great news and I hope we get regular updates.
I detect a great big load of love awaits this lucky dog :-)

A former colleague took in several retired racing dogs. Some had tough lives, injuries, etc., so a caring home is just what they need.
Great news, you deserve a nice dog to love .
I hope so too Pasta. Lucky you. I'm longing get my next dog but as I won't be able to walk him/her for goodness knows how long I have to wait:-( But I shall look forward to hearing all about your new friend. Does he have a name and will you keep it?
yay - happy news!
I bet Saturday can't come quick enough :-)
Can we have a weekly update please on how he's settling in, when he's come out of his shell, favourite treats.
We'll need happy news to look forward to

As LB says, any decision on the name?

xxx
So lovely to hear some great news :-). I hope and I'm sure, you will be very happy together :-) xxx
I have never changed any of my rescue dogs' names as I think it best for the dog to keep the name he knows.
Alba you forgot to add a picture. We need a picture as soon as;-)

Oh...I love the excitement this generates.
He's a black greyhound and his name is Sammi...a bit too close to Sally for me :(. So I'm thinking of Raven or Merlin. Of course, it depends on his character.
He's had a bit of a rough time. Another older lady adopted him...and expected him to be like her other greyhounds. She even took him to meet her horses. A lot of too much, too soon, and he started to withdraw. He was only with her for a couple of weeks. Greys need slow and gentle introductions...they are clueless when it comes to life outside of kennels.
I agree LB, we did however, change our last pooch's name.
It was a shortened version of my name :-)

We changed it to a sound-alike as opposed to something completely different.
Question Author
If someone can think of a soundalike...I'll consider it. I couldn't think of any...yet.
oops, my last sentence might sound a bit of criticism to Pasta's reply, wasn't meant like that at all.

LB, yep - photos please Pasta
:-) x

Nothing you said sounded critical. xx
Sammi is a nice name, I like that. I don't know any other Sammis. Is it short for Samson do you think?
Did the old lady give him that name or did he already have it?
great news and good luck
Good for you. There are two ex-racer greyhounds in my village, and both have lovely gentle natures, which I've heard is often the case of dogs given a home after being involved in racing. I believe they particularly enjoy lying stretched out in front of the fire!

As I said, LB, Sammi is to close to my Sally name. I'm not sure I want that, something different is needed.
The dogs have their racing names, then a short name is given randomly I believe. He slready had that name when the other lady took him on as far as I know.
Brainiac, they are gentle by nature. 40 mph couch potatoes...;)
Tommy? Close-ish...
