I am sure you all live in a named road, street etc.

Would you want to live in a turning with no name?

Urmm.. no i don't think i would, although it wouldn't affect life toooo much.

It's just easier to say "i'll meet you on so and so street" or what not, rather than "the third street from the south west".

If i had a good postie i wouldn't be too fussed but for the reason above i'd rather pass.
I can to a point sympathise with them wanting to keep their quaint ways but if it could mean the difference in an ambulance not finding someone I feel street names are needed there.
I personally, would find this strange !
Only recently has my EX in laws had an actual address. I could still post a letter with just their name/county/town and it'll get to them.
The name of the street mattered here. :-)

//Paddy phones an ambulance because his mate's been hit by a car. Paddy: 'Get an ambulance here quick, he's bleeding from his nose and Ears and I tink both his legs are broken.' Operator: 'What is your location sir?' Paddy: 'Outside number 28 Eucalyptus Street ....' Operator: 'How do you spell that sir?' Silence.... (heavy breathing) and after a minute. Operator: 'Are you there sir?' More heavy breathing and another minute later. Operator: 'Sir, can you hear me?' This goes on for another few minutes until.... Operator: 'Sir, please answer me. Can you still hear me?' Paddy: 'Yes, sorry bout dat... I couldn't spell eucalyptus, so I just dragged him round to number 3 Oak Street .'//

Good one Retro.
I live in a village with no street names.
All the properties are named after previous occupants or their
occupation, or where they are ie bridleway cottage ect.

No name to the road here, no street.

Easy to find as it's the dead centre to the village - next to the graveyard....
and the church.
I remember many years ago, looking for a street in a town I didn't know well. My passenger was a lovely, but not over bright, young lady. As I passed the roads I asked her to read out the ones on the left while I scanned the right as I drove. After a half mile or so of reading out loud, with some difficulty in some cases, the street names on my left, she announced hesitantly...……..Cul De Sac.
Some of my relatives used to live in a Derbyshire village (more of a hamlet, really) in which the streets had no names, and the houses had only names, no numbers. Apparently the postman never made a mistake in his deliveries.
For the postman and others familiar with the area it might be ok but for others like emergency services and couriers not so good. It could be a matter of life and death.
