Where Have You Been All This Time

Every now and then in the past i use to think back to my school days and wonder about some of the class mates that i have never met since leaving school - two in particular .

Last night we had a re-union and those particular two people were there , as well
We talked about the fact that it was strange how we have never seen each other again , since leaving school .

It felt good to see each other again .

Then i woke up

I no longer meet up with my old school mates......probably because of this....
Many years ago my sister phoned to tell me to put on the TV.....a group of prostitutes were being interviewed about why they entered this profession.....
One was my double in every way.....looks, hair, speech, mannerisms.....and I'll bet the nuns who taught me...were saying....
See now, Sister Immaculata.....I told you she'd end up no good!

I don't think I've seen any of my classmates since I discovered there was a whole wide World out there In late teens, and I became highly mobile.
Can't say I ever missed any of them tbh.
Still in contact with a largish number of Former RMs though, a good network as they're all over the place.
As at the moment I live approx 150 mls from where I grew up I think it unlikely any old friendships will be rekindled.

i went to a funeral yesterday (well i tried too, plane was late and we missed it but made the wake) and i met up with friends i haven't seen for 17 years or so, was lovely to see them.

Many years ago I heard an old chap say "that he knew more on the other side than he does here"

Now many years later, I know exactly what he meant.

I've never been to a School reunion, but know folk who love them - I do peek at the facebook page of my old school now and then.

I still know some I went to school with as I have never moved away, some of my classmates went on to teach and have taught my children and grandchildren too.

I'm still friends with the girl I met on our first day at High School 60 years ago - and yes i am an old git.

I have not kept in contact with any of my school mates .

However once in a while , my mind flashes back to my school days and there are some who i wonder how their lives turned out .

I did hear about one , who reportedly lost an eye in a night club incident

one school-mate was a bridesmaid, she eventually married, had kiddies and they emigrated.
We lost touch, in the days before interweb etc.
Might go and search for her.

The others I couldn't give a flying carpet about.

one of my school mates was an ex - girlfriend

My best friend who I love was an old school friend, we met when we were 12 in the 60's. I don't remember other friends of the time very well.

I am still friends with just one still local schoolmate after many, many years. If I do happen to recognise any of the rest I cross the road!
But keep in touch by cards and infrequent emails with former 'best friend' who now lives a long way away.

When I was 3 I started nursery and a boy stated on the same day. I am still friends with him now 52 years later!!

My in-laws met at primary school my mil said she when they were five years old she was going to marry him. They were married for nearly sixty years.
