She is in her 90's and how many people of that age are still working. She is having trouble attending different functions now. Her Majesty has a very able successor in Prince Charles who will make a good King . Perhaps time to retire now after a glorious reign

I don't think she wants to, nor should she. She isn't attending functions because of covid.
I agree with BS , now isn't the time for her to step down
She should have stepped down twenty years ago. I think she’ll die in harness.
Gawd how many times have we seen this...she took a lifetime vow...and having seen what her uncle did to her father, no way. She'll stay Queen, select her events like Ascot, the Order of the Garter and Remembrance Day and PC (and maybe PW for experience as his Dad won't have that long) will become Prince Regent(s).
She made a promise to devote her life.....and I think she'll see that out.

Although, waiting for your Mother to die before you can take hold of the reins of your own 'destiny' must be can't be much fun for Charles.
I think she'll continue for life. She said she would and good for her.
"she is having trouble attending different functions now"
I would be very interested to know what functions are going ahead!
No she should not, nobody is attending functions unless you are following different rules to the rest of us.
They can't become Prince Regent (s) while she is reigning. The Queen would have to step down (although she would retain her title) and she won't do that.
Well Gollob, it's good to know that you think that because HRH isn't breaking lockdown regulations, you think she should step down. I'm no royalist, but I think you may be doing her a disservice.
no, why would she?
the queen cannot "step down" without an act of parliament anyway and she won't. She vowed to devote her life to service. This silliness only arises because of the disgusting popinjay that was Edward VIII otherwise this question would never arise.
I was once an avowed republican, but as I’ve got a bit older I’ve done a complete 180, solely because of Her Maj she’s done a marvellous job and I admire her for still doing so. I also have an immense amount of time for William and his family - he strikes me as a thoroughly good egg who will make a good egg.

So no, I don’t think she should step down.
No. I'm not sure there is any difficulty with her attending functions apart from the fact there aren't any.

My grandmother is the same age as HM. If you suggested to her she stop attending stuff and "retire" (save for lockdown) you'd hear the sharp end of her tongue!
Popinjay? Was Edward a bit vain then? I know he was a suspected Nazi sympathiser, but little more other than that and the Wallis Simpson thing.
wrong word maybe but a right tawt none the less mozz.
Yeah, I think a popinjay is like a peacock: vain and extravagant.

Yeah, by all accounts he was a bit of a "***". (Self edited to save admin trouble). The Prince Andrew of his age.
Monarchs shouldn't step down. You're the king or queen until you die, then the next one takes over. She can do less and less, but she won't relinquish the title until she's gone.
bang on tomus
