In just before you on this one, douglas.....agree and what are the learning lessons....
It's tricky in cases like Spacey's and all sex offence cases where there is no physical evidence.

Even many child abuse cases don't get to court because the CPS have decided there is little hope of a guilty verdict. Isn't that what a jury is for?
I don't want the CPS dismissing even more.
I've just been reading a story about innocent men being sent to prison. I can't think of anything worse than being blamed for something that you didn't do.

volfie - this is common
confirmation bias - you discount evidence contra to your already made conclusion.

in the end you say, no this just isnt true
and you can see the very same in AB - denial that the IRA bombers er werent. ( xc Balcombe gang).

Sally Clark who did NOT kill her two children, was so often referred to by doctors, as 'she really did you know' that a judge granted a permanent injunction against discussing it.

Cleveland debacle where all those children were abused in er Cleveland. It started off with of 120 children, a third werent, a third were ( abused) and a third they didnt know
The judge forbade ( under pain and castration, and sundry other dire punishments) further investigation ( asking)
si I dont know where a half were and a half may have been comes from

I agree with you on confirmation bias - pick the facts that make your target the guilty one.

But to ignore a rock solid alibi or non matching DNA seems to be a way to solve crimes.
Sally Clark was a case of statistics being wrongly interpreted by someone. It was a truly sad story.

10C. I would hate to think that she is innocent and has had to spend a long time being suspected of murder.

Thanks wolf. I've already made my mind up about Lucy Letby. I just wish I'd been on the jury!
The CPS are essentially failed liberal lawyers who cannot get a proper job. Their prosecutions are based on woke ideology rather than any sort of reliable evaluation. I have personally been trialled and acquitted because of these eejits. I commit the most severe crime there is, I'm a white middle aged bloke!
What were you charged with and what evidence was presented by the CPS?

In my experience, which is very limited, I'll admit, the CPS made a town halls of a case against someone I know. Even the Police were just as bad, failing to appear at court without prior notice, amongst other things.
