All I can come up with is Gild ( Lid + G) You gild a picture frame..
yes mazie g= good id= picture, perhaps
Question Author
Gild seems possible but \I don't really see it Where is the bottle where is gets immersed in and I am not convinced gild =picture.

Thank you Mallyh and Maizie for your help. It is appreciated
Agree Dave, was my best shot though
Question Author
Thank you Mazie(and sorry for the error with your name !
are the letters 100% right ?
Question Author
MallyH I think the answer is hind
because unusually on this crossword there is a quick version. It appears that this week the answers are the same. In that version 15d Female deer (4)
15d clue makes no sense if the answer is hind x
'in' a good picture 'h d' high definition, but I don't understand the bottle part.

IN in HD(good picture)
Been following this thread with interest, can only parse HIND as 'in' in HD (high definition, good picture). But what that's got to do with taking top of a bottle i've no idea.
(T)in??
Question Author
I do this crossword (and win)regularly There are two crosswords -one cryptic, the other quick. The answers are normally totally different
but today for example :
2d( Quick)Last book of OT (7) =Malachi
2d (Cryptic) Book, hit uplifted a Greek character Answer= Malachi

Therefore hind = female deer must be the answer.

Like others I cannot see why other than H(in)D , Can't see the top of a bottle though
Possibly (P)in - 4 gallon cask - but can't see a definition.
Where's the definition for Hind ?
There isn't one - looks like a duff clue.
That's an hour of my life I wont get back. Luckily, I've got a *** life.
lol

Apologies to all for this.

I think they have a change of heart and decided to amalgamate 2 crosswords and made a total mess of it.
