I've just looked back at my work records for 2012. The 13th of April was a Friday and I would have been resting before a long day on the Saturday.
During that week, and the following one, I was getting paid to leave home at 4.15am on each Wednesday and Saturday, to drive down to Kent in order to start work at 6.30am. I'd then work through to 7pm, before driving for over 2 hours to get home again. Throughout the time that I was there, I was interviewing cyclists and pedestrians using a coastal route in Swalecliffe. Commuting 120 miles each way twice a week was enough for me, so I'd have been glad of the rest I was getting on the Friday. (Since then, I've done work in Didcot, commuting 165 miles each way for several days in a row but, fortunately, with only a few hours work in between my journeys on those occasions).
