I once heard of a young man who took his shoes to the cobbler's to be mended. That was in early 1914. Soon afterwards, the young man joined the army and went off to war. In 1918, the young man returned home, found the cobbler's receipt in his suit pocket, and went to the cobbler, who said, "They'll be ready on Thursday."
