I know that this subject has been done to death especially the targeted advertising but....this evening I have had adverts for 'female' lesbian dating and make up ads for black skins.

I am not a black lesbian, I am female though. I am now off to review my search criteria this evening to see what may have triggered these curious ads!

I've just disabled Adblock Plus on this page, to see what I've been missing ('cos I don't usually see any ads at all).

Apparently I might be interested in RAC cover. (That's certainly a coincidence, because my new motor insurance policy, which includes RAC cover, starts today). Aviva would prefer that I insure my car with them. I'm also (so it seems) a potential customer for Wonga. (Well, yes, I'm hard up but I don't need a loan thank you). Tesco would like me to shop online, whereas Sainsbury's would like to help me save money on my energy bills.

Most surprising, though, is that an 'offshore online broker' thinks that I might have the sort of money needed to pay for their services.

So it seems that (on the whole), the online advertising industry regards me as a very ordinary (i.e. very boring) type of a person.

However, as I recently found out, a bit of innocent googling can easily get you linked to some very unusual things!

Thanks marval. Not sure why I should be so targeted. No intention of clicking on them to find out as I am plagued enough by British Gas on the phone every other day. Perhaps I should be ruder to them.
