In the light of the recent fiasco, is it time the lefties where booted out of the BBC? Should the running of the BBC be handed over to the guardians of all that is good and moral, namely the daily mail?

Excelent idea R1. Then we could get rid of the tax that masqurades as a livence fee. A tax that is used to fund lefty propoganda - Brown Broadcasting Corp.

Dont worry R1 I suspect the days of the pinko/liberal do-gooder is nigh.
The BBC , being Brown Broadcasting Corp ?

Well , you learn something new every day
Good and Moral - Shome mishtake shurely?

The BBC look like nuns compared to the long record of impropriety that the Mail has. The Mail print so many lies, and pay out so much libel money, the licence fee would have to double to keep up.

ok then Gromit point taken, looks like I'll have to do my self! How does the GBC sound?
better put all GBC assets into Mrs Geezer's name before you start in with the libels...
No, I think you;re quite right Geez, these trendy Left-Winger-yoghurt-knitting lentil-steamers have let the whole thing go to wrack and ruin.

bring in the Mail!

Next month, and sixteen-week documentary series -

'Why Adolf Hitler Had The Right Idea About Foreigners'

and the eagerly awaited

'Yes Andrew Sachs Is Jewish, But We Are Letting Him Off Just This Once ...'
Could do with more lefties on here. The guardians of all that is good and moral, seem to have taken over this site.
The BBC p?sses me off with its constant naval gazing. The country about to collapse into a black hole and all they can spout out about is there 2 juvenile highly paid presenters. Day after day, hour after hour, why don't they get real!
Cos it saves on reporters having to go out on a cold day in search of other news stories. Just pop up to the top floor and ask the CEO for an interview on the topic.
The fact is that the BBC, for all its faults (and no organisation that actually does anything will ever be fault-free) produces some excellent programming. As to it being biased in favour of the left or the right, I'm afraid I have to laugh a bit. There hasn't been a government in the last 50 years that thought the BBC was on its side. Thatcher and Major complained they were left-wing, Blair complained they were right-wing. GB's motives, track record and ability to win an election are called into question on a daily basis so I fail to understand how they can be seen as backing him.

The role of HM Opposition is to argue against the Government of the day. The press and the broadcasting media see their role as rubbishing politicians in general, usually on the basis that they could do much better if only they could find someone to sponsor them and enough idiots to vote for them.

Politics, the world financial crisis, the plight of a poor woman who has MS and is considering suicide, all of these are faithfully pushed to the top of our agendas until something really important comes along like Wossy and Brand when the journalistas can get out their knives to attack the real enemy, namely all the other channels. And getting back to this most urgent topic of the day, did anyone notice that after commercial TV's pillorying the Beeb relentlessly for a week over RB and his inane broadcast, who turned up on Channel 4 last night with the first of a new series?...................yup, Mr Brand.

I wish we could have Huw Wheldon and David Attenborough back at the helm, but it ain't going to happen - have a bit of a purge by all means, but please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The devil and the deep blue sea spring to mind.
Andy and Dundurn I'm pretty much with you on this one.
I love the Beeb, it could do better and Brand etal should'nt have happened.
Perhaps you'd prefer the Berlusconi Broadcasting Corporation? Other countries just don't have anything like the Beeb, it's their loss.
Wrong Bertie, haven't you noticed that BBC is the Barrowman Broadcasting Corporation.
Are people in other countries forced to pay 139 -50 if they want to watch the telly
No, but you could have a situation like in Italy were the Prime Minister owns the T.V stations or in Russia were they control it also.
The Beeb offers great value, even if you've got Sky you'll spend more time watching the Beeb then Sky and even Sky itself plays a lot B.B.C programmes U.K Gold etc.
Long live the B.B.C and as for the T.V licence I have to say it is one of the few taxes I pay cheerfully and get good use out of.
And the B.B.C does'nt just do T.V.
I'm happy to pay it, except when I see it being wasted on an idiot like Woss.
123everton I do not have sky and i watch very little of the bbc
yet i am forced to pay 139-50 so that they can pay idiots vast sums of money.
Please do not bring radio stations into this as the only station i listen to has nothing to do with the bbc
Totally agree with you there Panic!!!
It's people like Ross who's raking in all the money from our TV licences every year!!
If the BBC had any sense, they could lower the wages of most of these so called famous stars.
Maybe then the cost of the TV licence could come down..
