As things are hotting up:

Two Russian aircraft and two helicopters shot down over Bryansk (Russia) this morning and reports in the Russian media of a third helicopter since.
The link says friendly fire ….
The helicopters are allegedly an advanced type of which Russia possesses only around 20.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12080009/amp/Russia-loses-four-aircraft-shot-sky-Putins-Ukraine-border.html

Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to be pushed back in Bakhmut with a key location: Klishchivka, reportedly liberated.

Russians also claim it was a UK Storm Shadow which but a big building in Luhansk yesterday. The interesting thing about that is that it was preceded by sophisticated US decoy missiles which no one knew Ukraine possessed, but seems confirmed.
On the minus side, there was a horrendous fire in Khmelnitskiy, W Ukraine. Cause unknown but possibly an ammo store.

Rumours abound that Aleksandr Lukashenka the Belarus dictator, is in a coma after a heart attack: he left the May 9 Moscow parade suddenly looking very ill and immediately flew back to Minsk. And has not bern seen in public since. Tho if he’s that ill it’s hardly surprising.
Queue his turning up tomorrow :-)

Lukashenka is to Putin like Mussolini was to Hitler.Lets hope Putin and Lukashenka share the same fate as their heroes.
How does 'Il Duce' translate in Bella-ruski lingo apart from 'Убийца'

Reports now circulate that Lukashenko was hospitalised this evening …

Who knows

There’s a lot of debate about whether it was a Storm Shadow: if that really was a “storage depot” then using one for that would be ridiculous overkill. Ukraine possesses some other missiles capable of that range. Russians produced a fragment they claimed was from the cruise missile and if that is genuine then the target was likely a much more important and possibly internally fortified one such as a command and control hub.
Hi Itch
thanks for the news
sunday and it is a bit depressing all this death

Popey was a bit mimsy with Zelensky yesterday - yeah I read papal news....
he left the May 9 Moscow parade suddenly looking very ill and immediately flew back to Minsk.
where the Russian doctors finished him off
(you havent seen a russian doctor: I have.)
yeah OK
russians saying storm shadows were used to involve UK in this
rather than..... they were really used
I tend to believe what I read on Meduza, who only report verifiable facts, & it does seem to look like bad news for Mad Vlad's 'special military operation' which going rapidly pear-shaped.

From the Meduza report"

"While Ukraine’s air force is not known to possess missiles able to reach targets at such long distances, the Telegram channel suggests that Ukraine could have received an undeclared delivery of U.S. medium-range missiles, together with the recent delivery of Polish MiG-29 fighter jets."

At least one top military analyst has commented that Ukraine may have fired air to air missiles at these aircraft from one of the MiG-29's it has just received from Poland, that is AIM-120 AMRAAMs.
They certailny didn't crash, nor was at last one hit by a hand-held missile from the ground, as the Meduza report points out, as you can see one being hit by a missile travelling straight into itl
The helicopters are both believed to be specially adapted for electonic warfare, moreover the winged aircraft taken out were supposed to protect thse prize assets!
If true, it will mean that Russian aircraft will be even more heistant than they are already about approaching occupied, or anywhere near occupied territory.

Further to my easier post: Klyshchiivka was not liberated yet but Ukrainian forces advancing in that direction.
This must be the worst nightmare for the Russians; 11 months, tens of thousands dead. And now they’re finally being pushed back.
Prigozhin in his latest filmed rant has effectively called for revolt against Putin.
ichi; You can add to that list the fact that the territory which Putin wished to gain is now decimated, or worse.
To rebuild these towns & infrastructure (think of the Mariupol steel-works alone) will cost billions & take many years.

Did you know that ordinance is still being found around the Somme after more than a century since WW1. ?
Just think of all the personnel mines & unexploded shells in the earth.

Shudder!

There’s a big operation to clear mines already going on: News this morning tho that 5 people died in a village ironically called Myrolubivka in Kherson after an unexploded bomb left by departing Russians detonated.
The forest beyond our flat is now mined: sad to think.
And yes it will take years
'A mine has killed five civilians aged 27 to 68 in the Kherson region, said Volodymyr Zelenskyy's chief of staff.

Andriy Yermak said Russian forces left behind the mine, causing the "tragedy" in the village of Myrolyubivka.

Approximately 30% of Ukraine is affected by landmines, an area twice the size of Austria, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.

"Every day Ukrainians are at risk from Russian landmines and unexploded bombs yet the Kremlin sustain the lie that they would not attack civilians or their infrastructure," it said.

Such is the proliferation that the State Emergency Service of Ukraine believes it will take ten years after the end of the conflict to rid the country of the remaining mines'

It is encouraging that the Ukraine is making gains, and the supply of western armaments must continue to help Ukraine in their advances.
Belarus’s president Aleksandr Lukashenko has been missing from public view since being taken ill during a Victory Day parade in Moscow on 9 May. If Belarus’s dictator dies or is incapacitated Vladimir Putin – his neighbour, patron and only regional ally – will have a vast, even existential, problem on his hands.
Bring it on!
Question Author
Luksashenko turned up yesterday, although it was noted that the person purported to be him looked slightly different, and although he had his hand bandaged as the "real" version did when last seen May 9 ...
it was the other hand.
Question Author
Rathee misleading (again) BBC headline about Kyiv being "hit" by missiles.
In fact, all 18 missiles were shot down, although there were a small number of casualties and some damage on the ground from falling debris. So I guess "hit" is strictly right, if not the way the Russians intended. Of the 18 missiles, 9 were cruise missiles and 6 were - oh dear - another half dozen of the super unbeatable Kinzhal ballistic missiles.
^^ Maybe Mad Vlad isn't the only one with a bottle of novichok
Am I allowed to ask how long the conflict will be, effectively, funded by the west.

I appreciate every politician wants a cuddle from Mr Zelensky and Russia is clearly the aggressor but is there an infinite amount of cash available to Ukraine given that we have our own struggles and issues?
