Tennis Australia and Victoria state set up two independent medical panels to review medical exemptions.
Novak Djokovic’s team apply for medical exemption. The reason for the exemption is not revealed. The team also apply for his work visa – but it is not the correct visa.
The medical exemption request is reviewed by the medical panels – with names redacted to ensure no favourable treatment. All information is taken at face value and is not verified as part of the review.
November 18: Department of Health tells Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley in a letter that people who have had a Covid infection but are not vaccinated will not be able to enter Australia. This is believed to be the excuse Djokovic used.
November 20: Victoria government announces that all players, staff and fans at the Australian Open must have full vaccinations unless there is a genuine medical reason.
It is the first first Grand Slam tennis tournament to put such measures into place.
November 27: Health minister Greg Hunt reiterates in a letter that people with a recent Covid infection who have not received two vaccine doses can not enter Australia for the tournament.
November 28: Djokovic's father Srdjan accused Tennis Australia of 'blackmail' for trying to make his son reveal his vaccination status.

Djokovic was then transferred to the Park Hotel refugee detention hotel.
January 6, 6pm (7am GMT): Facing deportation, Djokovic's lawyers apply for an injunction to fight his case. This will now be heard Monday morning in Melbourne (11pm Sunday GMT)."
My view is in total agreement with goodgoalie's. Nice to see a government apply rules across the board. From the above it would appear that the 27th November is crucial in this matter. If Djokovic will not confirm his vaccine status he must be deported. Bet that will wipe the smirk off his face...

Lots of comments in this thread are just assuming things, based on media reports.
This is a man with lots of travel experience and a team behind him that has the same experience. The Aussies *** it up and they know it.
The PM says that Australia has one of the lowest Covid rates in the world due to their procedures and restrictions. Not quite. Their isolation helps, as does the fact that (we were told) the virus is more virulent in temperate/cooler climates.

ken.. nevertheless the catalogue of events and timescale is fact not opinion.. and I rather hope "my Andy" would have more consideration/respect for others..his own family notwithstanding..and the disease itself... I would apply my observations to anyone in this scenario..even my much loved Andy ! :0)
