That was based on recommendations of laser technology 40 years ago.
My posts were based on the heading of this thread about a specific incident where a laser was shone on a particular person probably more than 50 metres away, with no evidence whatsoever that the beam was in contact with the eye.

My posts, opinion and comments remain unammended.

Apparently one of the Danish players had complained to the referee about the laser being used before the goalkeeper incident.
Looks well for England doesn't it?---Booing during the Danish National Anthem, fireworks being let off and the laser being used on the Danish goalie.
I'm just thankful that the laser beam didn't hit the obvious target -- the goalie's eyes.

The clip I saw, the laser did hit the goalkeepers eyes very briefly. He flinched, but did not react anymore than from a camera flashlight reaction. There are some dangerous people amongst us. This creature will be known as such by his fellow thugs.

I have to disagree with sqad strongly and say that it is not proven that it is always safe
and invite in the interests of science - to do a viddie and show it here of his own right eye being irradiated for a short time - lets say 30s

no - - I thought not

laser pointers, pens or key rings if used appropriately are not an eye hazard, and even if used inappropriately will not cause permanent eye damage.
