Do these laser jobbies have any practical applications? I see from TV that people are banned from taking them into Australia. I think they should be classed as weapons and banned here!

Laser pens: the law
Owning a laser pen is not illegal but a person caught using it to dazzle others in the eyes is committing an offence.

In 2017, the Government toughened penalties on those caught targetting transport operators or drivers with a laser device.

The Laser Misuse (Vehicles) Bill expanded the list of vehicles beyond just planes and meant those caught shining a laser at a transport operator could face up to five years in jail.

Drivers of trains and buses, captains of boats and even pilots of hovercrafts are among those protected by the law.

Offenders may also be liable to a Community Protection Notice for anti social behaviour.

The Health Protection Agency suggests that laser pens that are more powerful than Class 2 should not be sold to the public.

In 2017, the Government called for evidence into the regulation of laser pointers after a survey of UK ophthalmologists reported more than 150 incidents of eye injuries involving laser pointers since 2013.

The Civil Aviation Authority has also reported a rise in lasers being pointed at helicopters and planes on take-off and landing.

A very good example of what I've been saying all along, in fact three. this is your lager pig at its best, try to blind a goalkeeping for the sake of a ball going into the back of the net, that could have done permanent damage gladly it appears the pig was to boozed to get his aim right, and only managed the cheek of the goalkeeper. TTT seems to think this was only taken just in case there was a penalty, how silly, I wonder how many times throughout the game he may have tried to us it. Then we have the disgraceful booing of another nations anthem, plus the letting off of flares putting people lives in danger. Whatever the outcome of this game England yet again have showed their true colors. But the likes of TTT support this it seems and will look for any excuse. Clean play by the England team filthy actions by the never ending lager pigs who now have stained any success.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm inclined to think that this was a real incident and unreservedly condemn the vile idiot who carried out the assault and hope he is found and prosecuted.

However ... much as I hesitate to go down the 'is this real or photoshop' route - and I must assume that UEFA had access to the original match footage before acting - I've seen pictures from the exact self-same angle and timing that show nothing like the green splodges which this rather odd TV channel seems to have shown?

I'd be interested to see a major broadcaster showing the incident from their own unadulterated footage.

Even on this video you can see the light flash on his cheek for a split second, I viewed a still shot this morning and it showed just below his eye.

choux.......no problems, I agree with all that, but there are no medical studies from reputable Ophalmic Units which have shown any damage by certain obtainable lasers with specifications commercially available that they would damage ,temporarily or permanently to the anatomy or working of the eye.
This idiotic perpetrator must have been at least 50 metres away........at least.
I agree with all posters who have called it idiotic and stupid, but where I differ into the intention.
I have also said that I may well be wrong in my analysis.

What jno shows is what was shown. But at first, he had a bright green patch on his right ribs. Although, I didn't know what it was at the time.
