He could be very funny on his day. I'm a great fan.

Jobby.
Could never stand the man, but I wouldn't wish him the ill health he has suffered.
I still haven't forgiven him for his 'joke' when Ken Bigley was being held hostage.

He thought it funny to say get on with it. They did.
Yes a brilliant comedian
I agree with Hopkirk @ 22.59. I went right off him from that moment.
Funny to begin with, latterly he'd just rant about random stuff that came into his head.
I agree with Hopkirk too. A shocking thing to say and I've neither watched nor listened to him since.

I used to think that he was quite funny ( sometimes ) up until the Ken Bigley thing, went right off him then and won't watch anything on tv with Connolly in it.
Living in Glasgow in the 60s/70s there was no escape, whether you liked him or not!
Some say he began to believe his own publicity, him being a great thinker and commentator.

He got it very wrong with Mr Bigley but I managed to move on.

Brilllliant.
Favourite comedian for me .. Being born by the Clyde and brought up there I could relate to his humor .. I was surrounded by the people he based his banter on and always knew someone who was just like them. My father worked in the shipyards and yes there were drunks on every corner.
Dont know anything about a Ken Bigley joke .. but I will never forget the one about .. Ivan The Terrible.
:-)
Not to my taste. Too loud, brash, opinionated, crude. Worked in a shipyard for five minutes and never lets us forget it. Kind of like Oliver Twist and the blacking factory. He’s had a good run.
Ken Bigley wasn’t a joke. It was a sick on stage comment that should have ended his career.
Oh well, it didn't and the rest is history.
It has now though.
Sir comedy genius, rock on wullie
his incontinence pants was hilarious
Have to agree about the Ken Bigley thing. Poor, poor man and his devastated family.
