Weird decision. She puts the back up of even folk who accept something needs doing soon. Hardly an ideal choice to put that side of the debate and convince skeptics.
One programme I won't be watching.
Another "well said Buenchico" from me.

Although why they couldn't have got Nigel Farage to do it instead beats me :-)
Broadcasting organisations should only spend money on making programmes that I personally approve of and want to watch.
Anything else is a waste of money.
Have I got it right?

i just dont think she's credible, this is more like a human interest story
on great herself, she's no expert, but who really is as an individual.
i just find it odd they want to make a documentary about a 16yr old climate activist who has aspergers, i suppose the woke generation
may glance at the documentary, yea right on greta..older people
would just change channels, or watch a bit and think she's a bit odd.
My issue with Ms. Thunberg is that - if she has spent every waking minute since she learned to read absorbing information about 'climate change', she is still going to be woefully under-informed and worthy of the huge amount of attention she (well her handlers) is managing to create around herself.

Ms. Thunberg speaking about 'climate change puts me in mind of Doctor Johnson's famous quote about women preaching -

"It is somewhat akin to a dog walking on its hind legs, it is not that it is done badly, rather than one is surprised to see it done at all."
I'm not sure about that, Andy... even though I'm also not sure I agree with her. People with aspergers can be exceptionally intelligent and aware, even to genius level. She could well be very intelligent, focussed, aware and passionate. No matter how old she is.
How many kids have got behind her message?

On the evidence I have witnessed, I going to suggest not many.
Hi pix, you may be right, but a sixteen year old doing what she is doing is a manipulated sixteen year old, I don't care how intelligent she may claim to be.
she only got involved when her mum wrote a book, about....err...climate change!
Watching M. Portillo earlier this evening doing his stuff in Jakarta, there, like all the other programmes he's done in the far east, you can see the enormity of the problem; millions upon millions of motor bikes & cars in endless polluting all day traffic jams, why doesn't she go there & preach instead of the BBC, Davos the US, & all points west?
It is certainly possible, Andy... but equally possible that nobody could stop her if they wanted to. I have seen enough people with aspergers to realise, they have their own agendas often, and will carry on, no matter what anyone says.
I don't know Greta, personally, so I have no guesses for her, but think either way is equally likely xx
She's 'flavour of the month'. Another bandwagon that will trundle on until the next one arrives. In the meantime there are other channels to tune in to.
BuenchicoHmmm.

The BBC decides to make a documentary series about the most important issue in the world today and you object?

The BBC manages to get one of the world's most prominent campaigners on board for the series and you object?

The BBC embarks on the project via its commercial arm (which MAKES money for the BBC by selling its programming worldwide, thus REDUCING the burden upon licence payers) and you object?

Er, WHY???

Because the BBC's commercial arm is jetting around the world being hypocritical?
Or do you think they will be rowing?
^He has a point.
And balance?
It'll be shown just after Top Gear.
If they are still showing Top Gear, we are all entitled not to pay for a licence....

I don't doubt Ms. Thunberg's sincerity, or commitment to her cause.

I am uncomfortable with the empowerment she is given by her parents and other facilitators, which does indicate a degree of control and manipulation.

Plenty of teenagers are passionate about things close to their hearts, it's part of growing up, but i suggest none are given anything like this level of indulgence to pontificate about it all around the world.

Passion and commitment do not equate with knowledge and understanding in any teenager, Ms. Thunberg is no different.
Hi Pix, then shame on her parents for allowing their daughter with Asperges to be ‘used’ in such a way to get their own message across
