They have had the whole of the summer holidays to protest, or is this just another exercise brought on by their left-wing teachers?

All seems reminiscent to the Nazi teachers in 1930's Germany.

theres a school near me, parents pulling up in 4x4' tanks.. save the planet, except for school runs..in my day we walked to school, rain or shine, unless you had a bicycle, there was a bar steward student who used to think it was funny to puncture tyres, so i never bothered.
Ah yes, back in the good old days of child labour and rickets. At least these kids are doing something constructive instead of sitting on here all day pontificating about the "good old days". Weren't good for me!
The past generations were always the best, Maggie... it makes me wonder why they apparently so failed to pass it on to the next generations... not so perfect themselves, maybe.
If children have something they feel strongly about, it is good experience and impressive for them to actually try to do something about it, no matter what adults presume their motivations to be.
Aye, as long as they do it in their own time.
I know what their motivations are, pixie, I was a kid myself. In fact, i was ahead of the curve, I was always on strike.
In their own time is hardly going to get much coverage...
I'm sure, spice... and I'm sure you also had your own reasons...
Wellll....it was a nice day for it. Wonder if they will organise one for when it's hissing down and freezing or will they all be hugging the central heating pipes on that day. Will their parents all get a letter warning about the kids being off school without permission, with a warning of outlandish fines for further transgression?
Togo //Wellll....it was a nice day for it. //

Did it stay dry in 139 countries? ;-)
A strike can only be 'productive ' if the strikers refuse to give a service to non strikers. What service do school children perform?
"Lets go on strike and miss a day of learning..that will show them we mean business"
A mass kiddie walk, no coverage ?
Not only would it get coverage it'll have reduced the criticism of it to simply pointing out it's pointless because everyone knows about climate change already by now, and don't need them lecturing the rest of us.
Human activity and CO2 aren't the only things that are melting the polar regions and glacial ice. This is also a problem:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlamydomonas_nivalis#Role_in_environmental_processes_and_research
Chlamydomonas Nivali was first noticed by Capt. Ross in 1819, in Greenland when he was searching for a passage to the Pacific. It's a microbial algae that turns ice and snow, red. That darkens the ice so that it retains heat from the Sun and it melts quicker than normal. It also lives in the melt water So far, scientists don't know how to stop it.
Welcome back to your new school kiddywinks.
I am your headmaster. You won't see much of me. My name is Jack but I Dash all over the place loading bullets for others to fire. I used to be called Steve but am known as Dore.
The teacher i/c of Geology is Arthur Scargill. He doesn't know the difference between a rock and a hard place but found a lovely niche in the Barbican ,compliments of the NUM.
Your art teacher is Red. How appropriate. He used to work in metalwork. They made British cars out of metal once upon a time.
The car industry was destroyed. Nothing short of Robbo ry.
This school is Labour intensive children. Take the rest of the week off.
Most of the people I saw interviewed today said that they want the government to cut down on carbon emissions.

I typed “what causes carbon emissions” into a search engine, and this is the first site on the list.

https://greentumble.com/what-causes-carbon-emissions/

So what exactly is the government supposed to do about animal and plant respiration through the soil? Or the fact that the industrial revolution has happened, and the clock can’t be turned back.

I suspect if it was announced that all fossil fuels were to be banned tomorrow, and all power stations were turned off, there would be a lot less people protesting when they realise their lives will change beyond all recognition immediately.
Refugees welcome and socialist worker banners.
I wonder how many would give up their smart phones and laptops to save the planet, its not just the charging it the manufacture of them as well.

Why are the roads quieter during half term etc and busier when they go back, I grew up in the 80's and never had any of that, so it must be todays generation that's contributing to it.

Do you really think a 5 year old came up with this.

I really cannot understand why some people think that you have to abandon your Smart Phone to save the planet.
Smart Phones are a great tool in changing behaviour that decreases greenhouse gases.
Gromit,

Its not one, it millions, plus all the materials.

I never had anything like this in the 80's, its this generation with cheap clothing, smart phones, air conditioned class rooms.
//I really cannot understand why some people think that you have to abandon your Smart Phone to save the plane//

Then, unfortunately, you need to understand how smart phones are firstly made, with what materials and how, and, secondly, the technology which makes them useable devices, and how that is constructed and the cost (carbon footprint wise) of that infrastructure.

And the you'll do a cost/benefit analysis of retain ing the sm

(Where do they find these idiots?)
...And then you'll do a cost/benefit analysis of retaining the smart phone compared with adopting the tom-tom or the smoke signal method.
Nice clip, good to see grumpy old chaps with foul mouths making use of the technology they so despise.

Ban the wheel?
