They have had the whole of the summer holidays to protest, or is this just another exercise brought on by their left-wing teachers?

All seems reminiscent to the Nazi teachers in 1930's Germany.

Anything for a day off skewl..
what other exercises have been brought on by left wing teachers?
surely all teachers cant be left wing?
maybe the chidren just wanna bunk off lessons for a bit. There is of course the possibility that some of hem actually believe it will help
They’d be pretty stupid to strike during the school holidays.
Godwin's Law in the initial post - that's quite an achievement AOG!

Read what I put, not a mention of striking during the school holidays.

/// They have had the whole of the summer holidays to protest, ///
It has more impact during school time.

Also, what's this nonsense that climate change is, or should be, only a left-wing issue?
Teachers are clearly in a position to teach their honestly held beliefs. If they have proof, preferably scientific, of their opinion then that's not so bad, but it's an abuse of the position of trust otherwise.

Surely the suggestion isn't that the teachers are arranging it though. It's the kids looking for an excuse to truant, even if it might mean going on a protest. If the kids were really concerned then they'd protest on their own time, over a weekend.
People don't strike when they are not at work already.

It's not a difficult concept: if you want to get attention then you protest at a time it has more impact.
Jolly good. Perhaps after their visit to Subway on a normal schoolday they would all return to school on Saturday to make up the defecit of their tuition loss.
That's the point. There is no justification for a strike in order to protest. Folk are getting hold of the wrong end of the stick. The strike is simply to get a day off, not to progress climate change countermeasures.
Be interesting to see what the reaction will be in China or Russia, that is if anyone is striking in those countries.
They're probably taking Trump's advice on it.
aog, can you help me please. what happened with nazi teachers in the 1930s? are you saying they were left wing?
Absolute rubbish. I'm pretty sure the teachers are not behind this. They have to go to school regardless.

Having said that I reckon its about 10% who passionately care about climate change and 90% bandwagon hopping for a day off school.
They protest at times when it will get the attention of ignorant fools who are in greater need of education.
Ah I've seen this discussion before on this site. Some insist that because they called themselves national socialists that means they were left wing :-)

(And the DRC is a democratic country ?)
Sorry, that's meant to say 10% of the kids...
It’s nonsense to say it has more impact on a school day. The media would be out reporting on it on any day. Perhaps both the kids and any teachers who might be encouraging them/organising them are not keen enough on the cause to give up their own free time for it. Get back to school kids and have your jolly on a weekend.
All for the 'Greta Good'...
What a bizarre reaction.
Firstly teachers have not arranged this event.
Secondly teachers do not run the schools, the Government (or local authority does).
Thirdly the Government are not lefty, nor are most local authorities.
Fourthly teaches come from all sides of the political spectrum, not mainly lefty or righty.
Fifthly, this is a worldwide event, not solely British.

You may consider climate change to be a waste of time. But to liken it to Naziism is just plain stupid. It is not propaganda, it is a theory, that needs to be discussed, and people make their own opinion and decisions about.
A large number of adults believe it and tell their children, who then protest about it.
Not sure I agree with children striking from School, or indeed being actively political at a young age. But it is not the dawn of a new third reich.
