yes but isn't parliement suspended anyway during the conference season? This seems to be just adding a fortnight to that.

A fair point -- but in this case two weeks is still a very long time when there's only a month of Commons business between end of Conference Season and Exit Day.

That it's reasonably deemed necessary to protect democracy makes it a dark day for democracy.
I wonder if Mrs Windsor might tell him to do one.

Douglas, I think HM might be amenable to it as she must be as fed up as everyone else at the antics of some MPs.At least this will bring closure.
I can imagine her sitting with a glass of something, curtains drawn and ignoring the doorbell.
She may see membership of a union as preferable to being a mere state of the USA.
