// Should scanning devices be installed at school entrances, and anyone caught with such weapons be reported to the police and expelled?//

why expel them
why not just shoot them and say oops I am sorry I thought he was armed
All we as parents can do is to educate our children in firstly not being the one likely to cause trouble and secondly how to keep away from trouble they see brewing - of course sometimes things flare up in an instant and that can't happen.

We do our best though - of course we can home school them but at what point are they allowed out into the wide world?

We worry from the moment they are born but we cannot let that stop them living their lives.

Well as former advisor to the F.O. earlier why don't you give the H.O. a bell?
"mushroom am I correct in thinking the school staff supported bullies who carried knives? Did I read that correctly? " - doesn't surprise me, most teachers are left wing and the left generally support criminals and bullies.
"According to Wiki that school had 1750 applications for 210 places last year. Andy McNabb the cut throat hero went to school there. " - what do you mean by "cut throat hero", gromit? is this, as I suspect, yet another example of the left/anti British knocking our service personel?
There has been a column in The Spectator for several years looking at how the Romans dealt with modern day problems, I just looked up on the internet how they dealt with brawlers and ruffians; quite, shall I say, robustly?
I don't think there would be any more knives in schools!
"Dont let the press stories fool you about that place , I see the yooofs comin' out of dere ...know what i mean innit"

So to you any young person who speaks like this is "probably a criminal"?
Nice bit of stereotyping there Baz ...stylish.
Wooooshhh .....
Yeah that's right Baz - far too sophisticated for me. Tool.
//Would you say Europe is safe too at the moment?//

safer than Mali South Africa Mexico to name a few hot spots

well my track record in being listened to by erm anyone let along the mandarins in the Home Office is poor ....

Oh retro - I did try giving my views on the junior doctors strike to the Minister of Health but his secretary said he was too busy saving the country or something
I'm going to try to find out from my daughter about the Tadcaster school - she became a teaching assistant there last Summer and I also know, and used to work with, one of the teachers. It all sounds very odd.

Violence in schools? Mid 1980's a girl (high on glue) swayed in front of me, threatening me with open scissors. It has become more frequent, especially since we were stopped from searching pupils' bags (I think that right may have been re-established, a serving teacher may up-date me).
Then, in the early 2000's, there was the kid (from a family known to be associated with drugs) who threatened me with a gun (turned out to be an imitation, but I didn't know that) when I was shepherding a lot of smaller children across the playground.

A lot of children have started carrying knives for self-protection and that has accelerated the level of violence, but it is hard to blame them. Teacher searches might help a lot.
Haha...Tool ... brave words...is that the best you can do ?
I could do much better but I wouldn't want to play into your hate-filled agenda.
That's all for now :-)
"hate" your fav word...haha...poor little man
"poor little man" ..and that comment isn't loaded with hate?
Zzzzz....

Irritated? None of it. You don't irriitate me . You amuse me with your convoluted ramblings. Even funnier are the other ABers bemused reactions to what you have written in the aftermath. Highly predictable but still highly amusing. Keep them coming Peter. We all need a good laugh in these troubled times.
I can picture you explaining,on the phone, to a spotty oick in the F.O. the rules of U.S. Miranda laws and hot pursuit rights of entry after a felony has been committed. Must of seen a recent Dirty Harry movie.
Meanwhile in St James Square the three litle pigs are scratching their heads wondering if the Peoples Liberation Bureau, manned by rag tag and bobtail are accredited diplomats whose names had been presented in "Letters of Credence to H.M.. Do we blow the door down or do we create an International Incident.? Your treasured advice to the F.O. must of prolonged the siege and put a load of overtime in my pocket for which I am not at all grateful.Bit Like blood money if you know what I mean.
Any how. As our Isle is crashing around us you must keep ringing, F.O. Coroners Office, BMA,GMC, and H.O. just to import your confusion to them as well. Keep it up. Always game for a laugh is me. :-)

/// Teacher searches might help a lot. ///

Are you serious, how many teachers would be prepared to take the risk of being accused as a child molester?

Perhaps a walk through scanner arch or a hand held scanner, but 'hands on', is certainly a no, no.
