I’m reluctantly buying a new car. We have driven a few today.
I have decided which we are buying based on comfy seat, colour, acceleration and somewhere to hang my handbag. Done.

I’m looking at the dinner menu. Dave is reading car specs to me……lots of car specs. :-(

Why did you buy you last car?

Because it fits in our garage (we're security-aware people), and because it is fairly high off the ground (important when one's poor old joints won't tolerate low-slung cars any more).

I’d go with garage, BB but I no longer have one which is part of the reason I’m changing.
Then five foot nothing me and six foot four Dave have to fit. Not easy.
I stopped driving about seven years ago when we sold my car. The last time it was MOT’d I’d only done about 1500 miles in it so it made sense to get rid. And to be honest I’ve never enjoyed driving anyway and had lost a lot of confidence.
However, when OH was quite poorly last February I felt very isolated and anxious about being unable to even get to the shops that I decided it was time to bite the bullet and start driving again…but not in his big car. So I chose an electric Renault Zoe, three years old, and love it…although am still working on confidence driving it.
I bought my last car on a whim because I was fed up with him complaining about my car being unreliable, I now hate my new car and it sits on the drive doing nothing 90% of the time. But being stuck out in the country I need my car. I may change it again soon I have a few ideas of what to get next

I enjoy driving, Vagus and had to do it all when MrG took ill.
We have a plug in hybrid and my lovely Honda. Im not doing the Honda any favours where I now live so going for an all electric for the sort of driving I do alone.

I need a car because of where I live, Helen but I only use it for short journeys now. Standing on the drive with the salt from the sea is not good for it.
We had a charging point fitted at home gness, which is great. The car gets charged about once every eight days, and has a range of about 160 miles in winter, and 200 in summer. And for our lifestyle and type of driving it’s perfect.
Why did you buy you last car?

Because the old one was dirty. :-)

We have a charging point too, Vagus and a free one in the village. We were wondering about the grant reductions threatened but seems they’ll continue for us s we’re rural Ireland.

And the ash tray full, Tilly? ;-)
Because I wanted the model I already had but with heated seats. I also liked the slightly altered shape of the newer model.
I just buy whatever's available and cheap, including the car that I bought last week. I found out just before Christmas that I was going to have to scrap my old Saab because it was only running on three cylinders. The guy at the garage (who just sells a handful of cars each year) said that he'd have a Honda Accord arriving in January and that I could have first option on it if I wanted. When he got it on in, he gave me a phone call, I looked it over an hour or two later, took it for a 10 minute test drive and agreed to buy it. I didn't even bother looking at any other cars.

The Saab I had before that was purchased in much the same way. My previous car was destined for the scrap heap and I just said to the guy at the garage "Have you got anything for sale at the moment?". He replied with, "Only this Saab". A few minutes later, after just a 5 minute test drive, I bought it from him.

Most of the cars I've had in the past have been bought in a similar way. When I worked for a Ford main dealer, and was able to buy any trade-in vehicle for just £50 more than the company had paid for it, I bought an Escort without even bothering with a test drive at all!

I'm not exactly the fussy sort really, am I?

;-)

Our hybrid has heated seats, Prudie but I need a thick cushion to raise me up. Short body. Long legs. So no heat gets through. :-(
No, Gness. I used to tip it all out in a secluded place. :-)

I don't smoke in my new car, nor in the house. I spend a lot of time in the garage, with the mice for company.
Question Author
You’re not fussy at all, Chris. Like me, some where to hang the bag and I’m happy. The ability to see out the front helps a bit too.
Question Author
No house or car smoking either, Tilly. If I get a silly offer for the Civic I may keep it in the field as a smoking shelter and fit a little wine bar.
Heated and cooled cupholders and heated armrests:-)
that's a simple one to answer - I had lost 3 sumps down here on Cornish lanes and their potholes - and you can't spot them when the lane is flooded or part-flooded. I bought a VW T-Roc that has that extra height off the ground being a x-over as they call it. Nice vehicle and it was £7.5k off when I got it.

Cup holders yes, Ryzen. I have long battery heated gloves.

I seem to recall the Maxi had a low sump causing problems, I think, DT.
lost one on a Honda and two on an Audi A3 - which I think I had when we met in le Devon...
