Have just read that the music played for Jack Duckworth's last moments tonight is Matt Monro singing 'Softly as I leave you', my favourite song of all time. Worth watching the programme for that alone.

I shed a tear or two. Beautifully done.
yep it was I agree chrissa
I didnt cry half as much as when them lot beat us 5-1!!!!
dry those tears alex, Corrie is far more important..lol
Good old Corrie. Beautifully done and not over the top. Eastenders and Emmerdale just can't compete. It was Tyrone at the end that made me shed a tear. An excellent piece of acting from him. I shall miss Jack!!
oohhh LL I do like Emerdale tho' mind you, if thats what living in a hamlet in the Dales is like, give me Newcastle any time..ha-ha
Never could stand Eastenders Bobbi - too loud and over the top. Emmerdale is just too silly for words in my opinion. I only watch Corrie as far as the soaps go.
Yes it was a fitting end for Jack, meeting up with Vera, very poignant moment with Tyrone!
there is more happens in that tiny village than anywhere ..lol
murders, incest, affairs, drugs, plane disasters, fires...

it's worse than Midsomer, theres 3 murders a week there!!

sorry, pressed a wrong button just now - didn't mean to do a 'best answer' at all. But Matt Monro was the best singer of that type of song.
tearinghair I am listening to him as we 'type'
I was disappointed with the scene of Vera a appearing, I thought they should have used the technology available to make her look like an apparition/ghost, as in the movie Ghost, and when they danced they should have shown him through the lounge mirror dancing on his own..

What a loss, wasn't he - Matt Monro, that is! - but I do also think it's sad that so many of the early Corrie characters are leaving/dying. Who will take over their roles as light relief?
theres always fresh young faces coming along, Kevein was a tad naughty, he's looking old now, I remember him with the moustache..ha-ha
